I recall one of the show cars had the rear faux gas cap gone and had an emblem to the lower right near the taillight and a ducktail. Looked great.

While waiting for my Tungsten 06 I'm curious how it would look with a blackout and the cap gone. Have read through some old discussions here about it, but has anyone done it or seen it in person?

You'd have to fill at least three holes, two for the emblem, and one for the trunk lock. (No big deal, I guess, relying on the remote to open the trunk.) But I think it leaves the rear looking like it needs something, kinda bare and plain. The fake gas cap thing is pretty integral to the whole retro look, IMO, at least from the rear. I like it left there, but a honeycomb or ribbed (a la '67) rear panel might not look too bad. To each his own...

I have to agree that the rear without the cap looks pretty naked!

I've seen the trunk lock left in place and emblem deleted, looked pretty sharp, I cant find the link to the Rear Emblem Delete but I saw it on their 2005 Police Interceptor @trixtersracing.com

That's pretty good. Front grille ornament from previous gen?

Something like that on a blackout panel on a tungsten might do the trick for me.

Edit: Or is that a chop?

I think it looks great with the trunk emblem deleted. Don't get me wrong, the trunk emblem is cute and all, but it's just sinister with it shaved. B)

no, it's not a chop and yes, it's the front grille emblem from previous gen . it just covers two fake cap holes...

I, myself, am a big fan of the badge on the back of the new Mustangs. Of course, I think it helps that I think of it as a "badge" and not a "fake gas cap."

Cool, Phun-ky. Total blackout? Got anymore pics? I still don't like the car completely bare-a**ed, but I would never have thought of a grill ornament in the back. I know it's not on topic, but if you've got more pics, share or direct us to them? Thnx.
