Questions for those with SILVER or GOLD VINYL stripes
I have had silver vinyl stripes on my car for less than two years now. They are 3M 7125 series cast vinyl, 3 mil I think. I installed them myself and was very pleased with how they looked when they were new. I try to keep them as clean as possible and I wax them regularly using a product that specifically mentions UV protection. During the week the car is outside all day.
The problem is that even with care, they are looking dull and splotchy. They are not cracking anywhere.
I am planning on re-striping and would like some input from others that may have had better (or worse) experiences.
Helpful information would be:
o What brand of vinyl did you use? (3M, Avery, etc.)
o If silver or gold, was it metallic?
o Where did you purchase the vinyl and was it a roll or a kit?
o What do you wax or treat them with and how often?
o Is your car inside or outside most of the day?
o How old are your stripes?
