Question about G2 paint

I ordered this in July and got my car all ready, but now I'm reading the instructions and it says to apply in temps between 56-70 degrees or it will harden faster than normal. It also says a shelf life of 6 months. It wont get to that temp till freakin Jan. Can I just apply it now? Its about 88 degrees and humid as a mo fo now. what do you think?

You don't have to apply it in that temperature range specifically. They say that, so you know if you apply it in warmer temperatures the curing time of the paint will be ALOT faster, and you will have to work faster. I just painted the calipers of a customer's car to help him out, as he doesn't have access to a lift, and it was over 85 degrees in the shop when I did it. No problems at all.

Holy crap it's hot here. Only could get 2 coats on before it started to harden. I was rushing and in the process got some paint on the back of the rear brake pad area(Silver that most people don't paint). Tomorrow I'm hoping it's dry enough to put on the running pony decals. i'll post pics when done

Hey Chuck,

Sorry I'm a bit late to the advice game, but you can portion that stuff. You probably mixed the whole shebang and ran around the car like a nut (just like everyone else, including me). I called them and they advised to split the materials into (2) parts. Mix the first half and do the fronts and then mix the second half and do the rears.

My fronts stayed great and my rears are chipping away. I hope it was just a **** poor prep job on my part.

Good to see you using those stickers!

They should mention that in the instructions Would have saved me big time. This morning I checked the calipers and slightly missed a couple of spots. Oh well, hopefully my prep work was thorough enough to make the 2 coats last. I will say that I absolutely hated prepping ,painting these things. Would have paid a reasonable fee to have them done professionally. Oh well. My track record says that I'll probably wind up redoing them sooner rather than later

Here are some pics. Shaun, I decided against the stickers. The pony ones had black fingerprints on the sticky side of all 5. I knew they wouldn't hold since the sticky part had been comprimised.Thank you anyway. I'm happy it's done and pleased w/ results. Also got the 295/40 Falkens on

Definitely mix up partial batches.
I divided the G2 into 4 parts.
(1) Part for each wheel and I left a small amount for touch-ups as needed.
The key is to take your time and mask-off as much as possible.
I also bought (4) sets of “disposable” brushes in various sizes.
The brushes were waste after each wheel.

I was lucky to find the G2 on eBay already custom mixed in Redfire to match my stripe.

Thanks Burke! I've got ultralites. I'm done with the exterior. Only a couple of interior and engine dress up things leftThe $$ I've spent is disturbing BTW, I got the Falken idea from you Barry, how did you measure the contents evenly by 4?

geeeze Chuck, I just seen this post. I could have told you to mix 1/4 at a time, much easier. When I did mine I used a plastic cup and it started to melt onto the garage floor. Should have used the glass baby food jars first. Yeah, they should have a hint section in the instructions for sure.

I just did mine last weekend. Got the kit from Latemodelrestoration.com

I mixed mine all at once and had no issues. However the activator and paint never seemed to mix perfectly. I just kept mixing while i was painting and had plenty of paint leftover. I did two coats on the front and one on the rear.

The brush they sent sucked though.

Here's a few pics. Sorry for the quality, had the camera on auto in my garage.
