Question about 18x9 wheels
Question about 18x9 wheels
I am getting ready to buy my new wheels for my car, I want 18x9 deep dish bullitt chrome rims all around. And of course now that I am ready to buy them, the two sources I was looking at are not looking good. WheelHQ is not taking orders and American Muscle is out of stock on the 18x9 chrome rims I want. SO I found American racing torq thrust 18x9 rims on tire rack, they look like they have a bit if a deep dish.
My question, the Tire Rack web site has a fitment note for these 18x9 ( 18X8.5 or wider wheels may require modification using a Ford steering stop kit #6R3Z-3932-CA which is available only through a Ford dealer parts department)
I Know many of you have 18x9 rims all around, has anyone had any problems with fitting these on the front wheels? Has anyone had a problem with the front wheel rubbing if you hit the wheel stop?
I am looking at putting Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus 255/45/R18 tires on them.

I have 18x9's in the front, 18x10's in the back. but I don't have the 18" wheel option from the factory, I had stock 17's. I think the wheel stop is different, but I've NEVER had an issue rubbing the wheels on the fender.
It looks like you have made up your mind, not sure when AM will have theirs, but let me tell you...I ordered a set of 4 18X9 and Nittos 555 from AM...they were shipped fast (of course they where in stock). The rims were well protected in the boxes and I was very happy with their service...just saying.
I definitely would have done 18x9s all around but I got my rims used from someone here so it was either save 800 bucks and go staggered or buy new. I can personally vouch for the Nitto 555's as that's what I have on my summer wheels. But I can also vouch for the Michelins because those are my All season tires. Both great options

found some

These are the rims I have been looking at, all 18x9 Deep dish chrome bullitts, :1) American Muscle, 2)WheelHQ, 3) Tire Rack. they are all pretty similar, I like the American Racing Torq thrust from Tire rack but they are $248.00 each. Wheel HQ is not taking orders and has no contact info phone number or email, they were only $208.00 each, so I guess they are going out of business or something.I called American Muscle and they said they will have theirs in stock in the next few days and theirs are only $178.00 each. So I think I'll get the American Muscle rims, and with the difference I save from tire rack, I'll be able to get my rims, acorn nuts, locking nuts, black GT center caps and MGP red caliper covers.
I was looking at Mustang tribar Pony center caps, but American Muscle has some nice choices that I know will fit the rims, no problems with finding some that fit. I like the black 4.6 ones but I think I'll go with the black GT, they will look nice. And they are only $7.99 e.
My tires I like are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ultra high performance all season 255/45/R18. I have been very happy with Michelin on my wife's Mazda Tribute. Very smooth ,quiet, long wearing.
I talked to my Firestone dealer, I will have the tires sent directly to them, I'll save some money on shipping and they will mount them on my rims, give me a road hazard warrenty and free balance /rotation. So every 5.000 miles I'll go to them, get my tires rotated, balanced, and oil changed with synthetic, for $42.00. I have been rotaitng my tires and changing my oil for the past five years, it will be nice to have it done by some one else for once.
