PROlift hood kit installed. Anyone else have bracket twist problems?
Hey all... Put in my Prolift hood supports today. I luckily had help to hold the hood while I was doing it or the cursing-factor would have been far greater.
There is a single fastening point on both the top and bottom brackets, top uses one of the hood hinge bolts, and the bottom uses one of the fender bolts. I thought that it sounded good before I bought them, but now I am not so sure.
The directions say to use the supplied double-sitck tape on the top "bracket to prevent twist". I was afraid I was going to break the bolts from overtighting as they seemed to want to twist even with the tape on. I have them on, but I feel pretty certain they will loosen up and twist after a few cycles of the hood. 85-pounds on each lift is a lot to resist in the direction of the bolt...
Has anyone done anything differently to secure these, like drill in a couple extra set screws? If so, where? And I know they will only be loaded in shear [perpendicular to the screw], and not in tension, so a small screw will probably work, IF there is some worthwhile metal backup under there to screw into...
Just curious...

Heres a old thread where I bought mine. I've never had any trouble out of mine at all, but a couple of people in this thread did:
