POR 15...Anybody going to do?
Hey everybody, I was talking to another stanger last night and he mentioned that he had sprayed his undercarriage with something called POR15. Has anybody used this and what do they think of it if they have. I was thinking about doing this next spring. He says it works wonders? Your opinions as I have never heard of it?
Ive used POR 15 on some old trucks and it works great. Its tough and it prevents rust. Im not sure how you would spray it though, its pretty thick. And its not the prettiest paint either. But they make it in clear now, maybe thats what you could use.
I've used tons of POR-15 in the restoration of my '66. I've always heard of people using it to treat rust, I hadn't considered it for prevention of rust. I'm sure it would work great. I certainly wouldn't characterize it as "thick" in consistancy, and the manufacturer provides the method for how to spray it. One factor that is important to consider is that it does not hold up well to UV rays, so it shouldn't go on something that would be exposed to sunlight. I know there isn't any direct sunlight shining on the underside, but I still top-coated mine with a regular paint to help protect the POR-15 coat.

I recently used the POR-15 products to do some repairs on an older car. That stuff is absolutely amazing ! I could not say enough good things about it. I toyed with the idea of doing the underside of my new Mustang with it. I have no-doubt that it will preserve the metal surface where-ever you put it. But that is my problem - realistically I cannot get to every surface on the underside of my car without taking it all apart - something that I am not willing to do at this point. I'd be interested to know if you decide to use it. Good luck ! B)
They make a chassis coat that is UV protected... apply it after the POR-15
Works weel on restoring Jeeps... although like os121 mentioned...

Bump this...
I was just thinking the other night about how many un-protected surfaces on the underside of my Stang will rust, and I would like to prevent that.
Is this stuff my answer? Expert opinions much appreciated!!!
