Painting rear diffuser & front spoiler?

Hey all! I'm thinking about painting the center section(black section) of the front spoiler to a silver color and also the rear diffuser. I'm also going to get a silver rear "blackout" decal from BaltimoreStreetMods. Should I do it? Thoughts?

Cool It's your Cal

Well being a fellow owner of a nice white GT/CS. Got to say yours really looks pretty fine right now! Love what you have done with it thus far! Everyone wants to do things to their Stangs to personalize them. Myself included. But with your own Cal, between the V-6 spoiler, the cool California Special logo on the trunk lid, halos and the very clean grill update, I'd have to say that you have gotten it right!! We here, only do things to our CalStang, that can easily be put back to the original stock form. This to retain its future value, as a special addition! The existing black areas that you are thinking of painting, are part of the GT/CS's great looks and it could be very expensive to return them back to stock! IMO, just put on a nice flat blackout panel back there, add some satin black tail light surrounds and your done!! Smooth and pretty! At the very least. Ask for one of our great picture gurus here, if they could do a modified photo shop picture here, so you could see just what this would really look like before you jump into doing this paint modification! Good Luck on these choices. CalStang

I think you should stay with the black theme also. The vinyl "blackout" panel from BSM is nice and easily reversible if you decide on a different theme compared to painting. I had one on my GT before I got stripes for it and you had to get right up on top of it to tell it wasn't painted. I had the flat black and recommend it highly...not to mention BSM has a great price on these also
I also had slotted tail light covers to "tie" in with the blackout panel. See my gallery for a pic of it. Since you have the CS/GT500 rear diffuser facia, the blackout panel will look even better, IMO

I would leave it as is. Those blackouts(especially for the white CS's, I feel) are what give the CS its look. Its how you pick out the CS's from the GT's on the street.

I think the silver on white works.

stripes yes. painting the blackout part,no. Same goes for the rear diffuser. That being said, I'm not crazy about the silver stripes on white. JMO

I was pondering a similar thing for my CAR CS, and decided against. In my case I was thinking of painting the rear diffuser body color. However, I think it suits my current black/red theme better as it is.

yours looks very nice how it is. to each's own tho. if you want to do the silver thing then the only person that you need to please is yourself. as for me im doing the flat black BSM blackout, black tail light trim, painting the spoiler flat black, white Silverhorse Racing louvers, 3d carbon headlight splitters (white) and a flat black BSM superstripe (18 wide with 1 inch wide on either side). kinda sad that ive already bought all that stuff and my CS just started to be built TODAY ( !!!!), August 4th, 2008...... cant wait to get back from iraq in a month...
