Painting Rear Axle Tubes

This may be a little off-the-wall, but of course the unfinished rear axle tubes rust. I've sprayed the parts of them that are visible and that I can reach with flat black Rustoleum.

Have you guys done anything about yours? I think Eastwood has some good chasis paints that match factory finishes. Maybe that's the way to go.

I just painted mine with Hammerite. I think it is the best rusty metal paint that I have used, and it dries in just 15 minutes. I do recommend masking-off your axle labels, so you can read them later if required.
As far as using a color other than black, the rear axle just doesn't show that well, so black works just fine.

Can't say I've heard of Hammerite. Available from Eastwood?

Hammerite is sold at Home Depot and Fred Meyer.
