Painted stock wheels, opinions wanted

Just painted one of my wheels with plasti-dip wanted to get your opinions on it. I didn't want to do the traditional black wheel, so i went for the machined face look.

This, being plasti-dip, isn't permanent of course, but I wanted to see how it would look. If I decide to go with this, I'll actually tape off the wheels and spray them with something permanent.

So what do you guys think?

Looks good. Black with machined face is the way to go!

You've given me an idea for my motorcycle wheels. They are a pain in the butt, the way they're made, to clean, but this... this could solve that... Hm...

Only I'd be going full on paint and clearcoat. Just... didn't see it until you showed the 'in between paint/final' stage. Thanks.

Oh, and officially, yeah, I like it. Now, pull that plasti-dip off and get real black satin wheel paint.

/I got a hold of this caliper spray paint that's a really nice, self-levelling semi-gloss/satin black, I'd be seriously tempted to use it... and I think I will for my wheel project...
//But... you might wanna scuff the areas with red scotchbrite (green tape off the machine surfaces) and then shoot them with adhesion promoter to ensure sticking of the paint.. maybe?

What brand of paint do you have? I'm assuming any caliper paint should work fine. Glad I inspired you!

It's VHT Semi-Gloss caliper spray paint. I put it on my motorcycle's drum hub. Man. Looks good! But they say you should bake it at 200 degrees to make it really good and hard. Doing that with calipers is easy. A drum hub? Not so much... But it shouldn't get hit by any rocks...

Here's my wheel. This is a back one, front looks similar. Not my image.

The machined bits are the bits I'd not make black. but the backsides of them and the pockets... thinking black would be very nice indeed.

Yeah, that wheel needs a LOT of TLC... way not mine. mine look much better.

Yeah, Honda/Enkei did make a pretty nice wheel to look at, especially when all cleaned up, but they are a serious pain to clean...

Oh, you were talking about Dustman's painting thing... right. Indeed, I like it too.

If you want any color this is what you can do. I've done it many times. First you get the clear matte plastidip (found at local OSH or Lowe's) and paint the wheel. Make sure you get a good thick coat. Then you buy any regular color sparay paint and paint over the plasticdip. It will lose the texture and come out smooth. Then you use the exterior car clear gloss or matte for your finish coat it will come out really nice. And it will stay on for ever!!!!! My buddy has power washed, ran threw carwashes and everything and its still good 1 year strong.
