Painted Headlight Buckets?

Sorry if this is a repost, but I searched for painted + headlights and didn't find what I was looking for

Has anyone baked their headlights to paint the bezels to match? I know CDC has their model car with the lenses removed, but I'm talking about just colormatching and then resealing (hopefully with no moisture ) for an OEM appearance.

Has anyone here done this? I'm thinking about trying it with my Vista Blue vert. I think the color is dark enough that the lens won't change the appearance and it will match the body well. I've seen home - colormatched headlights on other vehicles that didn't look so great (mostly reds and other lighter shades - the color seemed washed out by the lens cover).

Thanks in advance!

Hi. See my avatar, and look in my Gallery too. All I can say is if you venture this on your own. TAKE YOUR TIME. Separating the lense from the housing is a challenge, and any boo-boo's will show when you put them back togetther again. I am glad I did it, because I too like the look, and I am not one to let anyone else work on my rides. You can always go to a GOOD paint shop, if your willing to pay the price. Good luck, and I agree with you, Do it your way. It's what it's all about to me.

HA HA I am an idiot! I search for headlights, use "buckets" in my thread, and never searched for "painted + buckets" I'll go sit in the corner now. Thanks for the link, that is very helpful!

FL, that looks simply amazing. The color match appears to be perfect, and the lens doesn't affect the match at all! I am sold Just need to scare up a spare set now.

I've done this mod for other vehicles, but always painted the housing black. So that covers up any boo-boos. This is going to be much more challenging.

If anyone needs a spare set of mustang headlight assemblies (without the bulbs) to practice on or as replacements let me know. I have a set left over after my GT500 front conversion.
