Painted GT500 Ducktail, where to buy?
Painted GT500 Ducktail, where to buy?
I have been out of the mustang scene for a while and I don't know where the best parts suppliers are anymore. I am looking to get a replacement for my stock GT spoiler and go with a pre painted black GT500 Ducktail. Anyone know where the best place to start looking is? Thanks in advance.
AtlantaAuto.com is where I purchased mine. Not a bad price and the paint work is fantastic. A lot of people have purchased them off of ebay for quite a bit less than even that, and I haven't really heard of any problems. This is who most people have purchased from on eBay.

Now these are not OEM spoilers, they're aftermarket. The Atlanta Auto one is 3D Carbon. Not sure about the eBay one. Nothing wrong with that, but they only use 2 mounting holes instead of 4. You can drill 2 additional ones, but it's completely unnecessary because of the 3M tape.

I got a bad Sportwing of ebay. Paint didn't really match (two dark) and it was very rippled along the top. Not the paint, but the actual top surface of the wing.
So I got the FRPP GT500 wing from Steve at Tousley Ford and had it painted by my local shop. They had 5 different ways to mix Mineral Grey from my paint code (TK) so this is a hard color to match by the looks of it. Luckily with the color swipes they had, one was spot on and it looks great. I think I ended up paying about 300 for the wing and paint. It bolts up in the factory locations, no more drilling. And the FRPP wing has a piece of metal running down the length of it, giving it a firmer 'frame' so much less chance of it lifting up on the corners like I've see with some of the Sportwings.
I've seen some Sportwings that looked great, I just got a bad one.
Here's some pics, you might be able to see the ripples and paint missmatch.

Thanks for the input everyone. Giddyup if you wouldn't mind, let me know how it goes after install. I am heavily leaning towards thespoilerstore option and would like to see how satisfied you are after you put yours on. Also what color is yours and would you mind taking a pic or two when you are finished?
