Hey guys, here are the exact dimensions of the 1965 GT350 stripes:

2" distance in between the two stripes
9 1/4" At the bottom of front lower valance
9 1/4" At the Leading edge of the hood
10 1/2" At the Bottom of the windshield
10 1/2" At the Top of the windshield
10 3/8" At the Top of rear window
10 1/8" At the Bottom of rear window
10" At the Leading edge of trunk lid
10" At the Bottom edge of rear valance

Hope this helps! They were originally tapered so as to look proportional when viewing from the front & back. You can't tell when looking at them (that's why it works so well). I had these stripes put on my '67 350 (white w/guardsmen blue stripes) back in the '80s. It looked AWESOME :worship:

PS: I don't know how they would look on the '05 since the proportions of the new car are a little different (wider & longer), but I believe these would work out perfectly on the new 'stangs!

at the risk of getting in trouble for not posting a link.... since I don't have one... here'a a pic that shows the dimensions... I'd give credit to whomever created, drew, or published this.... but I don't have it..... so on that note.
...oh, and I'll welcome myself to last year, too.

and somewhere on the forum is a pic of an 05 that had the stripes done to those measurements and I really didn't like the looks of them. They taper did not suit the new body style.

For real? I was planning on tapering so that it would look better. Do you have any idea where that thread is? I'd like to see it before I go and do something stupid... in paint, no less.

It was Peter1966.
He was the guy that bought the first '05 on TMS.

Here's the original thread from when he first had it done.

This thread has a few more pics.

I think he's made a few more changes since then.

However, compare his stripes, that taper

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index....pic=9730&st=60

to ones that don't

ok.... I see. I really can't see a difference except that the gap is wider. maybe his looks goofy because it's metric.

for real though... I see what you're saying. it can be compaired to a hot chick that looks pretty sexy ... except for that big ol' gap in her teeth when she smiles.

I'm goin' with a 1" gap and 10" stripes.

Yeah, the 2" gap is too much IMO, but the 1" just isn't enough.
If I ever make up my mind to stripe mine, it'll be 1.5" gap... with 10.5" stripes.

Take a look at the "stripes" thread. A lot of people are going with those dimensions now.

My stripes are painted, 1 1/2" gap and 10 1/2" stripes, no taper. You can see them here in this thread:

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=34169

I struggled for a long time trying to figure out what the dimensions should be. A 1" gap just didn't seem like enough, and a 2" gap seemed like to much.

I figured out the taper measurements for adjusted sizes, but I left that at home (on the road again). That's what Peter1966 did, just start a little bit bigger and increase/decrease the same pro"poor"tion (that's what I'm going to be after a paint job!!

I guess if you really wanted to be **** about it, you could get a hood/bumper/roof/trunk measurement of an original GT350 and then measure your 05/06 parts and increase that same proportion? Man I have too much time on my hands..........

Stripes look cool both ways.
