I don't really like the way stripes look between the tail lights. I want 10.5" stripes, which I think look great on the rest of the car, but too wide on the back. How do you think white with blue stripes and a black out panel would look?
Also, I'll have black rims on the car next week, if that help.

(I borrowed a couple of cars to see how it would look)

I think it looks ok. That is kind of a tough one. The two colors will definitely contrast each other. Have you tried possibly a "blue out panel" instead of a black out panel?

 i dont know, it may not "flow" correctly with the stripes, but it does look better than I thought it would.

I think they are two different styles and do not belong together.

Maybe I've just gotten used to it because I've stared at it for so long. That or the fact that I really don't like the way wide stripes look on the back.
Oh well. I have plenty of time to decide.
Thanks for the opinions, everybody.

I did some research to see if I could find any historical examples of shelby stripes with a blacked out, or black honey comb rear.

The only thing I could find was this.

Maybe if you combined the black out rear with a striped ducktail and used black instead of blue stripes

I would say one or the other, they seem to work against each other.

I'm going to add my voice to the chorus saying "one or the other." I think it's too busy with both treatments. Of course, I like simple designs and clean lines, which is why I went with the spoiler delete.

BTW, has anyone produced a honeycomb decklid panel? I saw one on a 99-04 model once and thought it looked sharp.

You may be able to get away with both stripes and a black-out if they were the same color. Maybe even make the black-out actually blue to match the stripes. But contrasting colors will not work IMO.

It 's funny that everyone says it's too busy. I was thinking it had just the opposite effect. I guess because I see the black-out as looking factory, like a 70 Mach 1. But of course none of those had LeMan's stripes.
Keep 'em coming, guys and thanks.

I think it would look cool, but I would get the stripes black to match the black-out rear panel. As long as they stay the same color I think it will look good.

I have to agree that it would look best if the colors matched. Do either blue w/blue, red w/red, black w/black, or any other color and you should be okay IMO.

you shouldn't mix and match. In my opinion it does not look good, almost like you couldn't decide on one or the other. It's either stripes all the way or none at all as far as I am concerned. Then again, I really hate the ford stripes that stop at the third brake light or ones that just go down the back of the trunk without doing the bumper. Looks unfinished.

I did a little research and found some pics that may help influence your final decision. One of these Shelby's has no paint in the rear tail light panel, and the other has blue there, to match the blue stripes. Both look good IMO.

Thanks for all the opinions, everybody. I was really surprised it was almost 100% that didn't like it.
I know I don't want black stripes or a "blue-out" panel so it'll probably be just the stripes by themselves.

I personally don't like the way the stripes look on the back either, but I don't think a black out panel is the way to go with blue stripes. The only way a black could work is if it was a flat black.

Now, if you had silver stripes, a black/flat black panel would look better. Especially with the black rims (the blue would look out of place with the black rims IMHO).
