Nope, not the real plate. I just did that in the picture.

The tires are Pirelli P-Zero Nero's. I'm using 2 stock tires up front on Konig Imagine 17x7 wheels, and these two 285/40's on 18x8.5's out back.

How do the 285s work on an 8.5 inch wheel? Do they bulge much? I was concerned about putting even 275s on an 8.5 inch wheel and went with 255 for my first set of rubber but would like to go bigger.

I think the 285's look real good on the 8.5 - I'll get a decent shot of the rim/lip for you after I get home from work.

Its not that bad move it around every few days or so and take it off when you wash it and the car will be fine. I've had mine on for a while and no problems.

Thumbs down

I have to say either this post is BS or the guy is insane for risking his life by putting 285/40/18's on a 8.5" wide rim.

The correct width of a 18" rim with 285/40's should be no less then 9.5" and no more then 11", with an ideal fit at 10". (btw, that is from pirelli)

If you really bought and installed the wrong tire size for your rims be very carefull it can be potentialy very dangerous and under hard turning the tire can easily come off the rim

Please be careful and always read the tire manuf. recommended rim width before buying tires.

Where'd you get that info?
I'd like to know what they recomend for the 255's.

I use tirerack.com's recommendations on tire/rim widths. For 255/45/18s, they recommend 8-9.5. For 255/55/18s, they recommend 7-9.
