New Quarter windows scoop
I wasn't totally being serious... as in that's why I wouldn't buy it. I was just saying that's all it would do is create drag.
I think if you guys saw these in person, you'd change your mind. It's on thing for 3DCarbon to have fake 1/4 window louvers, that have little black decals to simulate the 'slits' in the vent, but for you to have a 1/4 window scoop that has a huge black decal (or whatever it is that they have there) it's going to look extremely obvious in person that it's fake. I personally like scoops, although I prefer louvers. But I am just saying that I would seriously wait until someone comes out with a more authentic functioning scoop that doesn't look fake.

I wasn't being totally serious either (haha). But anyway. . .
I saw a set of Xenon Spoilers in person earlier this week at a dealer. I had to put my head on the side of the car to see inside before I could see that it was fake. The Ronaele or BR or whatever picture there IS more obvious that they are fake but some of the others aren't too bad.
I think it would be best to just paint the inside "blank" black and no one could probably tell while you were driving down the road.
However, I COMPLETELY agree that it's silly for those 3dcarbon louvers to just be decals.

Red 454, I know the second picture you posted is either roanelle or blowbyracing. But the first picture I am interested in. It is much bigger than any out there I have seen. If anyone knows where that window scoop is from please provide a link. Where did you find picture of that one red. Thanks for any info.
By making them real, does that mean that you want them open on both sides? If you only make them open on one side, your going to create a lot of drag and potentially pull them off the car by the amount of wind they would stink in. I'm curious as to what everyone thinks how they should be designed.
Mike, you are right about that. All of these scoops that are "open" one side aren't really open. They would definitely be ripped off the car. My advice to you is since there are so many fake scoops out there that you may have a big seller if you make one that is functional... as in it's actually open in the front, as well as the back. Like in the picture of the '67 I posted above.
Um....the original 67 shelby quarter panel scoops were not functional like that.
They were functional in that they actually were open to the cabin and allowed air from the outside of the car to the inside. Just making them open front and back does not add any functionality that I can see. In order to make them functional you would have to replace the window with something that allowed air from the outside to the inside of the car.

I just meant functional, as in air actually passed through. But they might whistle, like Mike said. At any rate, if someone came up with a design that at least resembled the functioning ones of the late 60's, I think that would be better than the ones out now that resemble the fake ones on Eleanor. Just my 2 cents.
agree Arcadian- it would be a real engineering nightmare to try and make them functional as far as getting air inside the car. I'm thinking about open in front and back. I just don't know if they would cause wind noise. I guess we will find out...

Thanks for the link - the scoops look similar, but the top ones seem a little smaller... Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.
Anyway, there certainly seems to be two groups - those who like the scoops (even if they are not functional) and those who dislike them (for a variety of reasons).
I sort of like them, but I have not seen any in person, so I may change my mind when I see a car with them.
But I am really waiting for the Shaker hood scoop. I should probably see one in person first before I shell out the money and cut a nice hole in the hood...

those ARE the same. i did some research...that car was being sold by some place in the US and i did lots of digging and found out that they use the same body kit as the LNR kit by Blow By Racing, who uses the same kit as Ronaele...aka Keenan (sp?).
They do stick out pretty far, but that's how the older cars were...at least elanor was

edit: the silver car with red stripes had a totally custom made ducktail that was all one piece moulded to the rear 1/4 panels and deck lid...totally slick. i'll try and find the original webpage for it. i think it was on ebay at one time.
Mike, it sounds like you are going to at least try to fabricate some scoops that resemble original Shelby quarter window scoops. That would be cool. I won't be getting louvers for another few months, so I'd be curious to see those before I finally do... I may switch to scoops. If they do whistle (and make sure to take her up to about 150 when you test it
), you can probably keep the existing mould, or at least the design, and just plug it somehow.

Kristina, sounds like you are a bit of a detective, researching the side scoops. But those scoops by BBR stick out way to far. The scoops on Eleanor probably stuck out an inch to an inch and a half... the ones from BBR are at least 2 and a half inches... maybe three. Too far IMO.

Acadian- I think you have a bug in our R & D room.... We discussed everything but you taking them up to 150mph..

I wish I did had a bug in there. Not to steal any ideas... just because I'm curious by nature, as well as impatient. I'd love to know what you guys are coming up with next.On a more serious note... taking it up to 150 is very important. I don't want to get the scoops and when I'm going 140-150, have it start whistling on me. Or, have them fly off.

I'm not pointing anyone out in this thread, but so many here will complain about wings and ricers, how are any of these 1/4 windows any different?
 Hopefully we'll continue to see more development and eventually something worthy of our cars & money!
Dennis.

I have all the pics of the Silver car that I downloaded from the website - (I don't remember the site, but if anyone wants the pics, let me know and I will send them to you...)

seriously...it's a bit of a problem....anyways, I remember the site was for a place LIKE Legendary Motorcar and it was either in Texas or Cali...something like that. I've checked through all my old emails and PMs and I just can't find anything. But I remember reading the description. The BBR hood that they sell is the same one that is on that silver car.
Anyways, ya the side's are really big...i like the IDEA of them, but just no so big and a little more integrated/smoothed out the back.
Here's a pic of an older '67 - from this angle they look HUGE! (sorry it's so big)
