New "Hurst-style" stripes installed

Spent the last couple of days working on installing new stripes on Maxine. Even before purchasing my Mustang, I saw photos of the 2010 Hurst Mustang Pace Car and fell in love with it. I'm looking to recreate the look on my 2006. It has influenced the color I bought, as well as the new wheels I recently bought.

Here are the results and a few in-progress pics of the work. The stripes are matte gold 3D carbon fiber. The white "stripes" are 10" wide, with a 2" gap in between. Not trying to pass off the parts as carbon fiber, I just like the look of it and to be a little bit different.

The Inspiration

Progress Pics

Started at the back, had to remove the GT500 spoiler. PITA!!!!

Rear taped up to outline where the vinyl would finally be.

Rear almost completed

Rear done!

Moving to the front, 2" center line stripe taped off.

All lines taped off, ready for vinyl.

The largest sheet of vinyl, cut up into three sections for the three pieces on the hood.

Center and left side completed.

Oh my gosh this is amazing! I would have never thought of gold carbon fiber but that's freaking amazing. Gah that flat vinyl too looks great. Seriously well done. I've been waiting to see what you did next. Well done man. Very unique

I posted in the other thread that I thought your wheels painted to match the stripes would look good , but it looks like your inspiration beat me to it ...

Thanks guys for all the kind words. I've been thinking about doing the rims, but I'm on the fence about it. Some days I really want to have the inserts painted... other days I really like the gunmetal that they already are.

I have a few more apperance mods I've got planned. I'll do those first before I decide on the wheels.

Hello Brian,

...if you're not sure. But do only one side wrap the rim/inserts with foil for a few days. You can paint later. Just my opinion...

I've thought about this for a couple days and I'm still even more impressed considering you did it yourself. So awesome. Congrats again

I've installed all the stripes I've ever had on both my Mustangs. Dual Lemans stripes, side stripes, and Mach 1 hood stripe on the 2001, as well as the gold dual lemans stripes on the 2006.

Those were all easy, because they were precut. This was different in that basically the design was 'freehand', there was nothing precut about it. It was because of that, I waited a good long time before finally pulling the trigger to make the change.

I'm so glad that I did, very happy with how they turned out. There's only one small wrinkle, and it is on the trailing edge of the underside of the hood where the vinyl folds over. It's hardly noticeable, except to me because I can see it directly from the driver's seat..... everyday!

Typical. It only happens where you know it and can see it. But the rest is perfect and that's what matters

I think you should paint the wheels. Have you thought about it more?

Wow! Those definitely look awesome! I agree that you should tie the color in on the wheels too.
