New hood scoop installed

Just thought I'd share some pics of my new hood scoop. I got it off Ebay but I believe it's a Boss 429 scoop. I really love it and I'm glad I tossed that sticky tape Xenon...

No offense but, and maybe it's just the pictures, but the scoop looks off centered just a little. Other than that looks good.

I thought so too, but the more I look at it, I think it's an illusion. The scoop is narrower at the front and I think the reflection on the driver side of the hood is fooling us. I do think it looks great though. I really like the color combo.

yeah, that's kind of an optical illusion because of the shadowing and reflection. I measured and re-measured that thing like crazy. HOWEVER, I do think I may need to redo the scoop stripe, which is "slightly" off. The scoop itself should be dead on.

and thanks for the compliments...

Nope,
not functional, at least for now...

it required drilling 6 1/8" holes to bolt it on. There is also a row of double tape on the front. I had the Xenon scoop on there before and I like this one much better. That scoop is all sticky tape and only a matter of time before it flies off.

Do I wish it were functional? Yeah, but for now, at least it looks cool.. he he

Nice!

thanks alot for the pics...

so is there really a benefit to just letting more air rush over the engine compartment?

from what I have been told is that anytime you can get air into the engine carparment wether it is to get more air to the airfilter or to get hot air out from under the hood, it should help some.
If I am wrong hopefully someone will let us know

I got a GT appearance pkg and was thinking of making mine functional too.
well,,,not truely FUNCTIONAL.but it does let some fresh air in.
do you have a screen in there?
I was thinking of using the black plastic window screen..
then I thought....do I really want water splashing my engine compartment when driving in the rain?? yes it's a daily driver.

dont even bother cutting your hood. even if it was hooked to the filter, it wouldnt do anything. ram-air is kinda a myth, if its REALLY set up right and ur going real fast u might get a few hp. not worth having your engine get covered in water and maybe screw up something electronic over time. both your cars look hot... now THIS is the real boss 429 hoodscoop ....
