New Grill Problems
New Grill Problems
Bought a new grill from Blue Oval Industries for my V6 and received it yesterday. They say that it is a direct replacement for the standard V6 grill and should just slip in with no modifications. Now the problem is that the grill will not fit like they say it is supposed to, I have a piece of sheet metal that comes forward from the radiator support frame and it hits the new fog light housing preventing the grill from sliding into place. Everything else lines up perfectly and the grill is smokin if I can get it in. Right now the only option I have is to cut that piece of metal off, file it and paint it. I can't see any need for it so I don't think it would hurt but if a company says "direct replacement with absolutely no modifications needed" shouldn't that mean what they say. Also the cheap plastic housing the lights came in doesn't hold the lamps securely and they just rattle around. I've tried calling them and emailing them but so far no response. I have no idea what that bolt is for either, it is covered up by the plastic radiator cover piece so it might just be for support in that area. That is the passenger side that I'm having the problem with.
I would send it back, if you got it off ebay or paid via PayPal file a “Dispute” w/PayPal under item not as described.
I guarantee Blue Oval will get back with you then just remember PayPal only gives you 45 days but they are on the side of the buyer in most cases.
I would give them a chance to rectify the issue but if they wont respond to your emails or calls then hammer on them HARD.

Well I spoke to Blue Oval and here is what they said..." on some 07 models Ford mounted the horn to the front of the car in front of the radiator and attached to the upper radiator frame/brace. This is why there is that extended tab on the front, that bolt holds the horn bracket. In order to get any fog light grill to work on the 07 V6 you will need to trim that metal back in order to get the light bracket to fit". Now the problem is, that not only does this metal tab hit the fog light bracket but the horn itself hits the fog light. So in order for me to get the whole mess to work I need to relocate the horn and trim that mounting tab back far enough for the fog light to fit. I am willing to do this because the horn is already rubbing against the radiator so thats not good, and the grill looks awesome. But that still doesn't fix the problem with the loose fog light and fog light bracket. The light still rattles in the bracket and thats because the plastic is so thin it doesn't apply enough pressure on the lens to keep it in place. I'm hoping that BlueOval will just swap those out with me but I have to call back on Monday........dang what a pain!!!
I am going to have to call bull on their statement. My 06 which was built OCT 05 has the horn in the same place. That is the way they were made from the start. If you are not happy with it send it back especialy if it doesn't fit or rattels like you say.
The same thing happened to me. I sent the grille back and got a full refund!
That grille does look awesome!

my 06 was built 12/05 and it has the same mount
got my grille from sacramento mustang (liked it because no pony)
it said nowhere in instructions any mods but it was necessary for light clearance on right fog. really no big deal though. after alot of talking myself into, i covered my fenders with an old blanket and cut off the horn mount with the ol' cut off wheel. than i modified the original horn mount(cut off the rear part of the mount) and mounted the horns to the center of the rad support below the hood latch.
than i painted the rad support and the fresh cut area flat black before i mounted the new grill.(boy did the white rad support show through the grille) looks much better flat black)got the grille w/lights,wiring harness(no switch)for $249.00
i used factory pny pkg wiring just removed extensions for small fogs gt plgs already there
