Need a little favor from all 05+

My hood got repainted under warranty for the corrosion issue. They actually did a great job on it from what I can see so far. Now the odd part. I know the hood was cleared before on the bottom. They are saying they are not. They went and looked at other mustangs on the lot and they are not. Well mine is a very early 06. So maybe it was an early production thing. I know a of an 05 that the bottom is cleared. I also posted this on another board and they were saying theres is dull but they had later years. Anyone with an 05-06 please tell me if the underside of your hood is cleared. Thanks in advance. Heres some pics, not so good, but can you tell the shinyness?

I know of 1 other so far not counting me, so maybe it was a mistake lol. But it should be done again even after warranty. Can you tell Adrenalin from the pics mine was cleared before?

Really hard to say. Here is a pic of mine. I painted the black but the blue is stock and has slight over spray in areas from when I had the stripes done. It looks shiny but it is not cleared.

Another pic where you can at least see the bottom half of the hood. If I remember correctly there is some clear along the edges but only a few inches in. Heck, when I removed the liner there was a lot of areas that were not painted and just showed primer.

I will take a picture tomorrow of the way it looks now, like I said it will be no comparison. I'm not saying the whole hood, just the outter edges where the liner doesn't cover

I've got 2 factory 05 hoods in my basement - neither are cleared on the underside. One's Sonic Blue and one's the best color evah, Torch Red.

Ya know, are you sure it doesn't have atleast 1 coat of clear on it? The reason I ask is if I show you the way the hood is now, I know for **** sure that it was not dull like that before even if it only has 1 coat of clear.

I'll take a closer look at mine tomorrow during the day. I am in the middle of putting it away for the season so I have to clean the engine bay so I will take a look. I know the engine bay is cleared cause I polish that once in a while.

100% positive. Here's how you can tell - take a piece of high grit sandpaper and rub the surface - if the sandpaper shows color, there's no clear. If the sandpaper shows white, then you're sanding clear. I just did a quick test on the blue hood I've got in my basement - the sandpaper shows blue = no clear.

Maybe yours has a 'shine' difference because of something when they applied the paint. (?)

Well it looks like *** so I'm going to have to spend the little bit of money that it should cost to have it cleared. Maybe only 1 pass around the edges. Hardest parts gonna be removing the hood to have it done right

My .02 - Consult w/ a bodyshop prior to doing anything. Some wetsanding and a buff may give you the results you're looking for.
