Alright I finally got my 06 Tungsten GT order confirmed. Now I need help determining what to do with it.

I'm going Exterior mods first and later the Peformance mods. As you can see in my signature I have listed things I plan on doing. I want to go ahead and start ordering parts this weeks so when it comes in, in the fall, I can go straight to paint. I need some help/ideas

I'm definately getting a CDC classic chin spoiler, Street Scenes Ducktail, SS front grill with fogs light brought in to the middle, exhaust system ASAP before car gets here.

I might get some SS gen 2 louvers (maybe others), and maybe a different hood.

I'm trying to decide on paint. My options are (add your own please):

If I go with steeda hood paint look would you paint the GT300 rocker stripes on(balck?), and/or what would you do with the chin spoiler (black or tungsten). The hood being black I'm thinking

If I stripe it I'm going body color with the chin spoiler w/stripes. For the stripes color I'm thinking black or a slightly darker metallic color than tungsten.

If I changed hoods(like RK's hood) striping might make the stripes go out wide too far? Maybe I should just get a non-fxnal scoop?

I'm thinking if I get the hood it might be the deciding fact on the look

I'm just looking for ideas/help

I would pick out your hood first. Check out BBR's hood too. It's got the dual scoops like the 67-68 Shelby's. And you should be able to stripe the whole car using the two scoops as a reference. I'll post a pic below.

It really depends on your taste. I personally like the single scoop of the 65-66 Shelby's. But I like other things from later Shelby cars like the ducktail, chin spoiler, etc. So I am going for a Shelby GT350 theme with hints from 1965 to 1969. I'll have the 1/4 louvers like a '65, the hood scoop like the '66, round-centered fog lights like the '67, the ducktail like the '68 and a chin spoiler like the '69. And my license plate says "05GT350" to finish it off. That's my take on a Shelby them.

Whatever you do though, I'm sure it'll look great.

Yeah I see what your saying about that hood.

Your car looks sweet. Your pics actually convinced me to get a ducktail instead of the stock spoiler. Your stripes look great on you car. If you had tungsten instead of MG would you stick with black stripes or get something a little lighter?

Thanks for the compliments. And that's a good question. If I had gotten a tungsten silver '06 I would not have done the black stripes. It's too much of a contrast IMO. I would have probably done the stripes in satin silver like the Detroit show car. I would have gotten the 18" fanblade wheels too and my car would have looked something like this...

Yeah that color helped me make my decision an order an 06. About 3 weeks after my order, my dealer called and had an 05 MG GT come in. But I decided since I waited so long, I'd go ahead an get the 06 with the Tungsten color and 18" wheels

I think black would be too much also, I was think a little darker like a MG metallic color or something.

Mineral grey might work. It has a brown tint to it in certain lighting, that may not mesh very well with the Tungsten. I guess I'd have to see it to know for sure. I'd still go with satin silver, or maybe a charcoal.

And I'm glad you held out for the '06. I wish I could have had the patience to do that.

I too thought that the RK Sport hood eliminated the idea of narrowly spaced LeMans stripes. It did'nt seem like they'd fit. It didn't look too bad on the '68s, though.
I am also having a "theme" problem. I ordered Sonic blue with the intention of going Shelby, but the Shaker hood scoop is killing me, so I am tempted to go Mach/Boss. I like the black on Tungsten, but a dark charcoal would look great as well.

anyone put that hood on yet, I saw someone who got the RK had a heck of a time getting it prepped. I don't want to have to do the same thing if I go with BBR.

I also assume that bbr hood is functional but does is divert the air to the air box or just the entire engine compartment?

Think I'll go with dark charcoal, since that's also my interior

From what I remember, that BBR hood is not functional. The openings aren't very deep, either. I think it has a sleeker design than the '67 Shelby style RK hood, though. As far as RK goes, conversations on this site would indicate that maybe they have gotten their act together. For the RK '68 Shelby style hood, another member here seems really happy with his. Try a search.

Actually, the only problem with the RKSport hoods was an early one. They've apparently fixed their quality problems. I was also amazed the the guy that had that hood never contacted them about a replacement instead of spending insane amounts of money on the install. There are a number of threads of people doing the RK hoods (both Ram Air and California styles) that haven't had problems.

The BBR hood is non-functional and they have no plans to make a functional version (I emailed them about it sometime last week). Currently RKSport is pretty much your only option for a functional hood. Personally, I'm hoping Cervinis comes out with some versions of their Ram Air hoods for the 05.
