Need help installing a 3D carbon hood & 1/4 scoop

I am ordering for my wife the 3d carbon hood scoop and 1/4 window scoops pre painted from LM Performance. They mount with 3m tape. Any tips on putting them on? Lining them up will not be a problem with the spray nozzels and center hood creese. Can you just pull part of the tape cover off and press the scoop down as you pull the rest of the protective tape off?

I would clean the surface well with a mixture of dish soap and a splash of rubbing alcohol. You need to make sure that there is no wax or dirt on the area.

That's what I used when I installed my 1/4 window scoops. Also just to be safe, I used some 3M adhesion promoter. My scoops have been on for months now and have seen some pretty high speeds- and they're still solid.

the adhesion promoter, where do you find i? Walmart or autozone?

Tom, what side quarter scoops did you buy? how do they attach? is it just 3m on the glass or does it fit around the glass onto the paint?

Thanks

I bought the adhesion promoter at a True Value hardware store- but I bet most auto places will have it too. Look around the 3M trim adhesive accessories- it's a small tube that's clearly labeled.

My 1/4 window scoops are Cervini's, from their C500 kit, part #4305 (link: https://www.cervinis.com/product.aspx?car=1&id=1160 . They attach only with 3M tape- I bought the promoter because I wanted to be extra safe. They attach to the painted area just outside and around the glass; I wasn't too excited about that fact but once I stuck them on, I figured that I'd never remove them anyhow, so not a big deal to me.

The biggest part of using 3M tape is the preparation. Just make absolutely sure that you've removed all dirt, dust, and most importantly wax before you stick it on. Otherwise, bad news.

Those window scoops are awesome! Are you able to wash the window underneath the scoop? Do they come pre-painted?

you can use a couple pieces of masking tape to help spot the hood scoop. Set the hood scoop in place and measure then place a couple pieces of masking tape around the edges.

Alcohol works good... No, the other kind. I've used it on the trunk lid, hood scoop, and dash when installing emblems. Works fine, will not damage paint or finish.
