Need help deciding on a rocker panel stripe!

I've decided on the stripe below in charcoal metallic. Only problem I'm having is deciding wether I want it blank,GT 300, or something else.

Leo, I have thought about this alot.

I'm not found of GT 300 because what if you change the HP via mods? Also there is no such thing as a GT 300.
My recommendations:
a. "FORD" http://www.wholesale-auto-decals.com/wak141.htm
b. Solid
c. "G.T." Call it what it is.

Other possibilities
C.I. 281 (cubic inches)
G.T. 281
S197 GT
G.T. S197
T82 (vin code for a GT coupe and reminicent of the German T6)
GT 55 (GT 40 was 40" tall, S197 GT is 54.5" tall)
GT L/S (GT, Leo Special)

I like the way the GT 300 looks but your right there isn't such a stang. Then add to it that I don't have 300hp anymore. As far as the other options you listed I'd have to say I like the idea of GT 281 the most. Altough what would you say if I wanted to put Mach1???

I saw someone move the Gt emblem down to the rocker stripe and add the pony package ponys where the gt used to be. The stripe was similar to the 1967 GT.

Do what you like. That way you won't have regrets. I'm going with GT300. The stripes are going on this weekend. I know there isn't one, but when you come right down to it, our cars aren't GT350s either, no matter How much HP you think you've added. I enjoy seeing other people personalize and/or customize. That shows an enthusiasum for the mustang driving/owning experience. Kinda like belonging to this forum. Which brings me back to the point. It's great to have people on this forum to get ideas and opinions from, cause they're so dedicated, but in the end my friend, do what makes YOU the happiest. Good driving, Carl

Well its just my opinion and I don't mean any offense to anybody here, but I never understood why anyone would want to put a description on their car that isn't accurate...... IMO the car isn't a GT300 or GT350, certainly not a Mach 1, etc...... I say call it what it is; either S197 GT, Mustang GT, Mustang, etc. I chose S197 GT and tried two different fonts until I got it how I liked it:

#1

#2 (I liked this one the best and kept it)

Like I said, I'm not trying to offend anyone; I do know there are people that don't like my thoughts on it and would prefer something like GT300, etc. but it just isn't for me. It sure is a conversational piece though, everyone always asks "what does S197 GT mean" LOL.

A nice pinstripe always looks good too. Here's a pic (click thumbnail, then click once the pop-up comes up to see a BIG view)

I've been on the fence about this and/or over-the-top stripes. But, to me, ON BLACK CARS, the stripes take away from the clean/stealth look

Yep, brainfart. T5 vice T6.

Personally, I too would shy away from Mach1. You will constantly have to deal with folks giving you crap about it.

How bout Mach .2 (152Mph at SeaLevel)
or Mock 1

The license plate was the perfect pun. That car started as a base V6 when I got it.

I agree and vote for no stripes at all. The black ones always looked better without the side stripes:

For comparison reasons:

I like the Saleen hash marks that BSM offers. Either style looks good, text can be custom to whatever you want or omit them all together.

although I'm on the fence, I absolutely LOVE these stripes, and am considering calling up the local chevy dealer to get a price on them. They are off a Colorado Xtreme, and I think they would look AWESOME. (Note: pic courtesy of autotrader.com & jim falk motors)

UPDATE: I just called my chevy dealer, and the package lists for $731. They said you can't get JUST the stripes. Maybe that was a sign

The S197 GT is a nice idea but most people wont get it unless their on these boards GT with 300/350/500 whatever is the best to me as people will assume its a Horsepower rating. My other option was to put Ford on the front fender but didnt really like it when I saw it.

I disagree with that one. I'm sure a lot of people know the chassis code, or knows that it must mean something and are willing to ask....and so these are the people who care about the car and the stripe in the first place.

the other people who don't know what it means are AREN'T willing to ask are the people who don't care for the car whatsoever...because they aren't "car people", and so the stripe means nothing to them anyway
