Nice, uh, "back porch" there Scott. From that angle it looks like one of your tips is alittle off-centered but its probably just the picture.

I can't believe I was just shopping online for one of these. I have so many hobby tools including at least 12 different kinds of black paint, three dremels with hundreds of bits, and 10 different kinds of CA glues and epoxies
Duh, 15 minutes and done!

I seriously need to do this MOD... I havent even listened to the Radio once since I got the car... Love Sirius (cant really see the black wart on the trunk on a black car). Does the Ball tip just pop back on or do you need adhesive?

thanks kevinb120 for the help, i was able to get it off. i didnt have another hammer though. i ended just sticking the ball end in the claw and jerking on the other until the ball popped off.
thomas, if you grind the end of the antenna right, you probably wont need to use adhesive. i used my dremel to very slightly sharpen the end. probably didnt need it, but i put a drop of super glue in the ball and hammered it on the end of the antenna. that thing isnt going anywhere.

i dont know how much is left, but i only took off 8". it still seems a tiny bit long, but it looks better than before. i think i am going to leave it this way for a while. for me personally, i think 14" might be a bit too short. reception is fine.
oh, off note, i thought that spiral thing around the antenna was a wire, but it is metal. it is the same piece as the antenna.
