Hi all.
I've only had my baby for 4 days, and I'm already thinking about customizing her.
What I really want to do is a BOSS 302 tribute.

Now, my main question is:
Are there any aftermarket companies that make BOSS/Mach I-style front spoilers?

Or should I be thinking more along the lines of the CDC Aggressive Chin Spoiler or the Steeda Front Splitter?

Now, keep in mind that I want to do a tribute, not a replica.
I want to bring back some of the elements of the BOSS, but in a way that totally compliments the S197's already flawless design.

Also, I'd rather have the hood, reverse C stripes, trunk lid, spoiler, and the space between the taillights painted, rather than use vinyl.
Does anyone know where I can get the specs for the vinyl Reverse C stripe kit sold on 50Resto?
Or, is there a template for this stripe?

I am going to do a Photochop soon of my concept.
As soon as it's done, I will post it in this thread.
Should look pretty bad_ss!

Thanks in advance.

Great minds think alike. No real replica of the chin spoiler, and I just took the easy approach with the CDC Classic. www.graphic-express.com has the boss stripes that I used. I had the hood painted, replaced the spoiler with a new, prepainted one, and had the taillight area painted as well. Real hood pins really set off the paint job. I recently put on 18" Mach 1 wheels because they are pretty close to the Magnum 500 wheel (Wheel Vintiques makes them for about $450 each!). Search on my handle (jwgroovin) for posts with pics or click the link in my signature...

Don't forget adding horsepower at some point. No one wants show without the go!

Awesome!
Question: Where did you get your replacement rear spoiler? Is that a genuine Ford Mustang GT spoiler?
I'm guessing going this route was much cheaper than having it painted at a shop, eh?

I was thinking about the vinyl C stripes, but what I really want to do is have them painted in silver and pinstriped in red. That's how I would have the hood done as well. With the vinyl kits, the main stripes and pinstripes are all the same color.

So basically, there you have it...the cat's out of the bag. All of my color accents will be silver instead of black (meaning the chin spoiler would probably be silver, too).
Just wanted to be a bit different from the other BOSS tributes out there.

However, I still need to do a Photochop to make sure Silver is what I really want.

And, as for the hood pins, I was already planning on getting some sort of aftermarket hood, in which case, hood pins would be essential.

And yes...horsepower is on the list, but is taking a back seat to aesthetics at this point.
Honestly, I'm really quite satisfied with her power...for now.

You know, those ARE closer replicas, but I personally don't like them, at least as presented. Wish they had pics from other angles.

I got the spoiler at http://www.spoilerdepot.com/Catalog.asp?A=...ModelTemp=&idB=

Regarding the vinyl, I think mine will eventually get painted on, but I truly wasn't sure if I was going to like the look. But I'm sure now. Everything else is painted though.

Make use of Photochops as much as possible. That really helped me, especially with the wheels...

And where is snuffleuppagus ringing a bell?? Dr. Seuss?

If I read this correctly, this owner used a real 69 front spoiler on this Mach 1 Tribute http://www.cardomain.com/ride/810071/1?cat=10&val=1

Sadly, I agree as well.
It just looks stuck on.
The CDC & Steeda offerings seem to integrate more fluidly into the front end of the S197.

And John, Snuffy was Big Bird's furry pachyderm friend!!!

Wasn't the 69 Boss 302 C-Stripe a reflective vinyl? If so why not go that route. Also, I thought the black paint was matte to prevent sunlight reflection off the hood, trunk, and spoiler.

Personally, I think the Boss look on a Tungsten/Red mustang might look a little out of place. But it's not my car. Were you thinking of using the Satin Silver like the Le Mans striped 2004 show car?

Welcome to the club...get in line.

You might want to check out www.fangperformance.com for some other ideas. Unfortunately, no one can tell me if the different shakers will fit over a Saleen S/C and I don't want to be a guinea pig.

The reason why I don't want vinyl stripes is, as stated before, I want the main stripes silver and the outlining pinstripes red. This is how I would have the hood done as well. The silver I was thinking of would be Satin Silver.

And yes, on the original BOSS, the paint was flat black.
But I'm not concerned about all that.
As I stated earlier, I'm not going for a completely accurate reproduction, but rather a tribute. A throwback. I want to borrow the design elements from the original BOSS, and reinterpret them to coincide with the look of my particular vehicle.
The S197 body style is a throwback to a number of different Mustang body styles from yesteryear.
It is not a complete reproduction of any one particular model.
Why should my design elements be any different?

But moreover, I just want to do something unique.
I want to be able to say that no one else has my car.

Why did you wait that long?

I got my spoiler from Casco Parts. It is a factory take off. Therefore it was already painted Ford Factory Black. The chin is a CDC classic.

Yeah, the Classic's not bad, but I think I'm leaning more towards the Aggressive.
Does anyone have any experience with this one? I am a bit concerned about clearance issues.

I've seen one installed and clearance was fine (the car wasn't lowered though). The classic is about 6" from the ground, and I'm still going to lower mine 1" at each corner.

Agreed with all that was said already. I am doing a Boss tribute as well. I'll save my little tricks for myself though, to distinguish me from the crowd.
