My Cervinis Concept Hood Flutters At Speed.
My Cervinis Concept Hood Flutters At Speed.
The passenger side of my new Cevinis Concept hood flutters bad at highway speed. I've talked to Cervinis many times about this and the keep telling me to adjust that hood stops. Been there done that and the hood is no better.(THEY ARE NO HELP) I took it back to my body shop and they came to the same conclusion I did, I got a defective and warped hood.
Anyone else have issues with a Cervinis hood? I thought they were supposed to be the best.
Should I just drill the **** hood for hood pins or let my lawyer handle it?
Here are a couple pictures with the hood down and not latched. Clearly the passenger side sits an inch higher than the drivers side.

My hood fluttered at high speeds, 100+, I am opting for the hood pins. Fiberglass is a tough one to work with keep it flat and level with out some more substantial sub bracing. Get the hood pins and go with the look and far better way of securing the hood.
Thanks, that helps. I guess pins would have the least impact on my wallet.
Maybe its just the pic but the drivers side looks to be too far back as well. Hood pins are the safest route. Over at my cougar club they have had a fiberglass hood or two go into the winshield without pins installed.
Thanks for the responses. The hood does sit back a little on the drivers side, I can try to adjust that as well. As far as the rubber stops are concerned I adjusted those as per Cervinis instructions.
Here's a quick pic, I have it covered and I think I'm going to put a GT grille with fogs back on, The Bullitt grille just doesn't seem to fit the look.

Fiberglass hoods are notorious for needing pins in order to secure them: they are much lighter and more flexible than the stock hoods. You're right to want to do something about it, it doesn't take much for the stock latch to fail and find yourself with a freshyly horizontally creased hood.
Didn't Brad post a thread in the past two weeks or so on the main 2005-09 page about hidden pins for aftermarket hoods?
EDIT: found it. Was in Exterior Mods, page 2 or so:

Adjust snubbers on each end, you may need to adj. hook as well.
You dont NEED hood pins.
Ive been running my Concept hood for over 3 years, at well over 130 ( at Hennessey track in Sealy during 60-130et events ), no flutter.

Have had struts on my hood since i got it, no problems. It ( the fiberglass hood ) is heaver than the factory Alum. hood and still use the prop rod at shows and when working on it for any length of time.
They raise as you turn them CCW and lower as you turn then CW. You can also loosen the two bolts that hold the hood latch and lower the hood latch to increase downward tension on the hood. Just don't make too many adjustments at one time.
I raised the outer stops to the point where the front corners of the hood where raised above the fenders, it looked lame and the hood still fluttered. I made all adjustments as per Cervinis tech support including installing washers between the hood and hinge, which only made the rear of the hood higher than the fenders. I only installed pins as a last resort.
The Foose hood is a very nice piece. Even my painter who does a lot of aftermarket hood painting said it was one of the easiest hoods he has ever painted. And with a $600 price at CDC for a pre-painted Vista Blue Foose hood, you can't go wrong!!
But I do get a little flutter with the Foose hood as well, but think that is due to my open Roush billet grill.
