Mustangs and Snakes

How many of you have the coiled snake on your car? I'm thinking that I might put the Cobra badge on the side where I have the running pony and remove the Faux rear cap and replace it with the snake. I won't have Shelby anywhere on my car except on the wheel caps the my American Racing/Shelby Torque Thrust wheels came with. I think it would go good with the theme of my car. Opinions - comments - hate?

I love the coiled cobra snake, how it looks and what it represents.

If I was going to do it, I would do it the way you are suggesting with the non-Shelby GT500 emblems. Either way make the car your own and who cares what everyone else says, as long as you like it thats all that matters.

However, for myself, I would not put them on a car that is not a Cobra or a Shelby.

Emblems

Hey Rich,

I'd pass man, your Mustang is what it is, the fanatical Mustang Guru's will always be saying something about it in public, you have a nice car, but it is not a Shelby......

If you are unhappy about the running pony and want a change, try a powered by Ford emblem. You have a nice looking car and it is always IMHO best to understate your vehicle.....

emblem

Rich,

I've given this some more thought, on my O5 GT with the CDC Shaker I attached the script Cobra Jet logo on the scoop and it looked really cool, will try to post a pic from my other computer......

Might be another way to add you cobra theme idea

I'm really torn on this one. As a rule, I'm of the "if it's not an SVT or Shelby, don't put cobra emblems on it" mindset, BUT in the case of your car it would seem to be such a perfect blend with the overall look, I can't really say I think it would be a bad move.

I have the cobra emblems and the faux cobra gas cap, along with the SVT wheels on my car but I didn't put them on there the original owner did. I get "that's a good looking cobra" from those that don't know the difference, and "it's a fobra" from those that do. I plan on debadging the car when I get it painted and just running with the smooth look. Im with the above, if you think it will look good go for it.

I'm by no means a purist I just think the snakes would look good. No where will it say Cobra or Shelby. I think the only people that it upsets are the Shelby owners since they haven't made a "Cobra" since 2004.

It's your car. I say, if you like it, do it!

If it fits the theme of your car, go for it.

Be prepared for the ridicule though.

well lets look at it from a long term point of view. Do you want to have to explain things every time someone see's the badges? Also shelby guys are kinda like vett guys. They want everything to be 100% perfect all the time. Thats not every single shelby guy. Pretty much I see shelby owners as vett guys that did not want a vett.

From a long term point of view I think it really stops mattering... Look at the new edge mustangs for example. You can put every Cobra body part and badge on there, and people just think it looks good now, and the fobra thing doesn't really matter.

Well I decided to go with putting the GT emblems back on and I'm going to have my local guy make a black strip to complete the black stripe. I already pulled off the GT350 vinyl and mocked it up using black electrical tape just so i could get an ideal of how it will look. Also the 3rd picture is a chop that mustangGT20210 did for me from an existing picture. Shelby guys can sleep better tonight knowing that I'm not making a Forba ~

Hey Rich,

Drop the side stripe, put black rockers on it, and add the Cobra...that will ****'em off!
