I just installed MRT hood struts today and they look awesome (with the hood open). When i close the hood, the passenger side of the hood is raised above the fender. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to fix this?

I have had mine over 4 years but if my memory is correct, you may want to check the bracket(s) that attach the strut to the fender. If not installed correctly, I seem to recall that will cause the problem. There is a thread somewhere in exterior I think also

+1 on the above. I have a Cervinis Concept hood, and with the MRT struts it did slightly bow the hood. I went back to the prop and only use the struts at shows.

I remember that thread, something about the bracket being oriented wrong when attached.

Mine did that also, so I took them off and went back to the prop. The hood is still not completely level even after taking the MRT hood struts off (on pass side). It's off by a hair, but its noticable to me. Ticks me off.

ok, thanks for the info i was seriously considering these hood struts but i guess not now if its going to give me problems.

Don't get me wrong--these are nice struts, and I had no problems with them with my stock hood. But (and there are threads on this as well) when I installed the Cervinis hood with the struts, the hood did bow slightly and, given the weight of this particular hood, they didn't quite hold the hood up, especially in cooler temps.

i want to try and buy these once and have a good experience from them thats why im looking at different threads on this mod to see what has had the best feedback.

i guess it just depends on the type of hood? so maybe i will give them a shot.

I have the CDC version on my car. No problems at all with the stock hood. With aftermarket fiberglass hoods you have to get different pistons because the standard one pushes up too hard when it is closed. I spoke with Scott at MRT about their 1968 Bullitt style hood and he said that he would swap out the pistons and it should work fine, just like on the Interceptor (the Mustang they use to test out lots of items).
