Bummer mate! That is just terrible. I can't imagine watching that happen. Worst nightmare just sitting there watching and not able to do anything. Glad your ok and I hope your home is ok also. Get the insurance to pay and get that baby back to 100%!

Well Pony went to the body shop today. It's estimated at least $3500 so far. The hood and decklid will be replaced, as well as the LH mirror. They are going to attempt paintless dent removal for the rest of the car.

Well the updated repair amount is now $6000! Wow! I'll know in about two weeks if the car is satisfactorily repaired.

It's a dent in the insurance company's wallet. However I have to pay $1000 deductible and that blows away some other things I would rather spend my money on...

Update today... I talked to the body shop estimator at Earl Tindol Ford and she said come by anytime to look at the car if you want a real shock.. LOL! I suppose they are well underway with the teardown to repair the roof. I have worked with bodyshops selling parts a good bit of my life so it really would not be much of a shock since I have seen so many cars stripped down to repair them. As long as the finished result is good then I will be happy.

Hail Damage Repair Update!

Okay so the repair estimate is now up to $8200! They finally have all the filling done. It will go into paint next week. They had to remove all the glass and the entire car is getting a new paint job except for the bumper covers. They are installing a new hood. You can see how extensive the damage was by just seeing all the filled in spots on the roof and body.

I decided to take the opportunity to have a Mach 1 style black stripe painted on the hood. It will be covered in clear coat.

Earl Tindol Ford Body Shop is doing a great job. They are removing everything necessary so that nothing is taped around. The work they are doing has a lifetime gaurantee...

I missed dime to golfball size hail by 5 minutes the other day. One part of me said it would have been nice to get some updated paint that didn't chip as easily but another part of me didn't want to spend the $500 deductible.

One suggestion I can make is have them fill that antenna hole and go with an amplified antenna inside the car.

I'd go shaved door handles and SilverHorseRacing louvers as well if I had the hardtop.

Pony is back and she looks flawless! She has an entire new paint job except for the front and rear bumper covers and rear spoiler.

What happened to the Mach 1 style hood stripe?

BTW, if you haven't already, I would strongly recommend that you call your insurance company and have them inspect the roof of your house! It may look fine, but it could actually be damaged. I have gotten insurance checks for partial roof damage in the past on two houses.

The stripes are coming later. They were to be painted on. I unfortunately had to pass on doing it right now just to get the $1000 deductible paid and pay the rest of my bills this month.

The roof my of house is just fine. The hail storm didn't hit where I live. It hit 40 miles away at my sister's house on Mother's Day where I was at after my sis and I took Mom out for dinner. My sister is indeed getting a new roof on her house.

Earl Tindol Ford Body Shop in Gastonia, NC did an excellent job on the repair and paint. They back their work with a lifetime warranty.

I rewarded Pony's recovery with a set of black turn signal lamps!

Seems to have came out well. So they ended up using body filler to repair the dents?

The hood is new. Everything else is flattened or filled. Scroll up and you can see the pictures. Everything filled is shown in light green filler compound.
