I was all set to modify my tail lights so they were blacked out between the lens as described in a post on this web site. I went to the garage and mine came that way from the factory. Am I the only one that has this done? Here is the post that talked about it and showed pictures:

No I have the red with the black lines from the factory. I think yours may be a mistake. I have a picture of another Mustang for sale locally and it has the black too. Its to dark to take a picture of my car right now. I will try and post some shots soon.

The lines are not black between the tail lights. It may be an optical illusion because the lines between are recessed, so if you look at it in the right light they may look black because of shadows. But they definitely don't come black from the factory.

Now the black is actually where the plastic bonds to the housing, its under the red. It looks like dark cherry unless viewed straight on. So from certain angles the red reflects without showing the black under the plastic. But every one we have is clearly 'black' and outlined unless you look at it from a VERY steep angle. But there is no cheezy vinyl or anything on them, its under the plastic.

So, that's what it is. There is black under the red between the tail lights. I looked at my car the other day (after reading the thread on blacking the lines out) and noticed they looked dark. But, though it was shadows. I think it looks fine how it is.

Here it is from the factory. Black lines are visable when you look at it straight on. From an angle the black lines disappear. I will show you a second picture of the first torch red in town (early build) They look black on it.
