IMHO - With all the attention these things are getting and the numbers of people showing interest, I'm surprised that somebody else has not picked up the "hint" and beat them to the punch. The demand seems to be high, so the supply can't be far behind. First company to mass produce them, will get the majority of buys up front.

How long can it take to "perfect" these small pieces? If "Proto-types" shipped on 14 NOV . . . . .

We realize that we have not done a good job of keeping people updated as to what's going on. :bang: For that we apologize profusely! This is a very busy time of year for us and our customers, so time is a precious commodity. We have good intensions but we fall short and the thing that takes it in the shorts first is communication.

Anyway, the V6 covers are finally shipping and Kevin will give those people information regarding how to order.

As far as the mirror inserts we have yet to manufacture the tooling to mold them. The parts that we sent to Brad were made on a rapid prototype machine, they are far from production parts as there is a lot of hand work involved to make them look good. Rapid prototyping can be a blessing and a curse as we can make a handfull of parts in a few days and everyone can see them and go, wow those are cool. But then, to make them in production is a completely different thing and everyone wonders what's taking so long, you have parts right there that I can see. It takes many weeks to manufacture injection mold tooling once you have the design and we have on average 8-10 molds going through our tool shop at any one time. Our best guess for the mirror inserts is shipping the first week of February. If you would like to get on an e-mail list to be contacted when we are taking orders or to pre-order, send an e-mail to us at sales@midwestautogear.com with the subject heading, Mustang Mirror Inserts and put your address and name in the body text.

We will work with Brad on the details of some kind of group buy. We will also try to do a better job of keeping people informed of our progress from today forward.

The bottom line is the quality and appearance of the final product. If the covers are on a par with their engine cover - its well worth the wait.

I'm willing to wait for a pair in yellow, assuming the price is under $60 and they fit well on my 06.

Thanks for the update. I think most people realize it takes a while to put out even the simplest part, but we had no idea where you guys were in the overall process.

I emailed Midwest regarding the mirror inserts and here is their reply. I have preordered~

Email from Midwest-

Hi Richard,

We are currently working on the tool design for the mirrors. We
are estimating that the covers will become available the beginning of February. The cost of the covers will be 64.95, which will include the shipping . If you are interested, I will put your name on our pre-production order list.

Will the inserts be painted to match the color of your car for $64.95?

Yep, I've already got my name on the list as well. I think the plenum cover is top knotch, so I'm confident the mirror inserts will be also. Can't wait to get them!

Add me to the list - I'm VERY happy with the qualiy of the Midwest Auto Gear plenum cover on my '05 GT and their customer service was very good as well.

I'll take a set in black

By the way, that $64.95 is a good buy!!
