Finally got a Mustang GT ordered for a decent price. While searching the web for info on the new Mustang GT, we ran across the pictures of the silver show car that BradBarnett has for all to see. The wife and daughter fell in love with the stripes! (Once had a Dodge SST with similar striping!) I already contacted a local tint and customizer for the possibility of having vinyl stripes put on our ride when it arrives. Now to get ahead of the deal, I need to know how wide those stripes are so he can get them ordered! BradBarnett has one picture of the show car Mustang Gt that is front on. Looking closely you can see where the outer edges of both stripes are in line with the inner edge or radius of the two running lights in the grill and the center gap is just as wide as the Pony's crossed legs in full gallop. Would someone be interested enough to take these measurements for me at their first opportunity?
Thanks, :worship:

Greg

I can import the pic of the Detroit show car into a progrm I use, and scale the car to 1:1 and take a measurement. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Not sure about the stripes on the silver/grey show car, but the Le Mans stripes on the original Shelbys were actually tapered, and not a constant width.

I remember somebody mention a while back that bobwhitedecals was working on a set of lemans stripes for the 05 that were supposed to be exactly like the ones on the Titatium show car.

They have these, but they are for 99-04

If you do get the stripes, be sure to note that the stripes on the Titanium GT are light silver and not white.

The stripes on the '05 don't look tapered... at least not the ones on the Detroit car. I am still scaling it... but at this point the stripes look to be exactly 10" each with an inch in between them.

Ok... this is pretty accurate... although not 100%. I looked at a bunch of pics and came to the conclusion that the tread width (62.3") comes out to right at the end of the lights. So, I scaled from that. And the strpes came out to exactly 10". But, if you are ordering the stripes first, just order some 11 or 12" stripes, and have them cut them for you. Most shops will have a stripe cutter.

If you are 100% sure that you want stripes, dude don't bother with vinyl, have them painted on. BTW those in pic at NAIAS are Satin Silver and they are painted on.

WOW! Thanks for the interest guys!

Acadian, thanks for the time and trouble you have gone to! I really appreciate it. As for ordering them wide and having them trimmed to suit at application, I am not too sure the fellow I checked with would have such a device. He is a great tinter and he applied the touneau stripe kit to the SST I had, but then they were directly from Dodge. Hopefully he can provide color samples and order the material ready to apply. Some shade of silver on Mineral Gray.

Autothing, thanks for the advice. If what you guys have done for me already doesn't fill the bill, I will definately bring it back to the top, especially if I can't get my hands on a GT to verify Acadian's estimated width before I need to order the stripes.

Badsnke98, Around here, I wouldn't know what paint shop I would trust to spray stripes on a brand new car!!!! I agree that that is how it should be done, but unless someone highly recommends a service, I'll stay with something that I can peel off for now!!! Thanks for the thought though.
