I think you're out of line Adam. Just my opinion.
I like it when TMSers come up with cool ideas like this. Kind of like when someone thought to use a zetaproducts knee pad as an armrest. Now that's cool.

Creative. I dont know why people are calling it trash or saying it looks like trash. It looks identical to a flat black vinyl blackout.

But, as I mentioned, you were not on the receiving end of multiple e-mails with subjects like “D*ickheadâ€, laced with vulgarities.
Nonetheless, let’s stop all this and have a few beers.
We all have different tastes when it comes to cars. Thank God, it’d be SO boring otherwise.
But we all know that the new mustang is just friggin Right On.
Btw - was that knee pad or elbow pad?

NY Mike, I like it! It looks great. It is not easy being innovative. Despite the negative comments, there are many who like this idea. It's inexpensive, easy to install and easy to remove if you change your mind.

As far as black out goes it looks pretty good. The only thing that would turn me off is how you can see the thickess of it on the top.
Maybe if you made if a bit higher where it's flush to the lip it may be harder to see that.
That's the only thing, but you'd have to really look for it to tell.

I must of missed something . . . . . I didn't see anything rude on this thread (from NY, that is).
Anyway, I'm still interested.
and if somebody is wondering why, because I personally like the blackout mod concept and the wife doesn't, so this looks like the perfect fix . . . for me.
I can put it on when she's not looking and take it off when she is.

At least there are no gaps. Thats good but it looks like it doesn't like the curling at the top where the trunk sorta curves out. Pics look as if its not sticking to the metal there. I guess if your up in the air about getting the paint done and worried you may not like it in the end; this would be a good temp solution to get you used to what it looks like. and for what $20 I couldn't really expect something great.

I have another one that I had on the car for a while and it does conform to the curve. The pictures I took was from a freshly cut one. I also hate the gaps. As a carpenter for 20 yrs. every 32nd of an inch counts. I have been racking my brains to get this extremely tight. I spent 20 min. trying to cut a 64th of a part of the template. I purposely cut the hole for the fake gas cap smaller because there is about a 1/16th of an inch of space where you could work the magnet in so you do not see any paint. I originally bought the Carbon one for a template but it was flawed. I'm not saying this because I'm trying to come up with something but you could see paint around the whole fake gas cap and on the bottom of the trunk. When I recieved my car I made a perfect template of the rear and now it's up to the die cutter to match what I made. But for the $ I'd rather spend under35$ than $150+ and the $ to have it painted, and not be perfect.
