Lower 0.5"...

I know there are a few spring kits that lower the Stang 1.5" and down.

Has anyone heard of kit lowering only 0.5". I think 1.5" is too low, specially with Fanblades. 20" with low profiles on the other hand is a good combo with 1.5".

But i'd like to keep my Fanblades put a skirt package on, but only want to lower 0.5".

No. There aren't any that only lower .5". The only way to get that small of a drop is to cut your springs. I'm thinking about doing it to my front springs since I have Steeda springs on the back and stock up front. That little of a cut wouldn't cause any problems.

I have been interested in cutting a coil from my rear springs, where would you cut? what do you think cutting 1 coil would be worth in terms of a drop?

I cut my rear springs several months ago. No problems at all and no difference in the ride quality. I cut one coil from the top of the rear springs. This lowered the rear by just about 1", the front and rear are now almost perfectly matched. Using a floor jack, jack stands, and an air powered cut-off wheel in the driveway, it only took about 1.5 hours to do the whole job.
The rear springs can be cut in any amount to get the drop you want. If you only want .5", cut 1/2 a coil or so, cut more to get more drop.
The fronts have to be cut in 1 coil increments. If I remember right, this is because of the way they mount in the strut housings.
Search these forums for "cutting springs". There are a couple of threads around about the pros, cons, and testimonials of others doing this including, a how-to thread put up by another member, if it's still around.

I'm planning on getting the H&R sport springs, which lower .75" inches in the rear, 1" up front. Some would say why bother, but more than 1" is too low for me. To each his/her own...

Seems to me like those would make the rake even worse. 1" in the rear and .75" in the front would look pretty good though.

Cannonballer,
I just saw a stock set of springs on eBay if you'd rather not cut your original ones.

I just put the Eibach Pro-kit on the car today. 1.3 inch drop front and 1.5 rear. Trust me, it's not too low. I have about 3/4 inch fender gap in the front and about 1.5 inch rear now compared to what looked like 4 inches before. Car rides very well, just slightly rougher than stock. The 20 inch wheels will use up less space that the stock 17" wheels due to the lower profile tires. Stock is 27.1 inches and all the 18 and 20 inch tire combos I have been looking at come in around 26.75- 26.97 inches. You should keep it as close to 27.1 height as possible so your speedometer will be accurate.

Thanks! I was just about to post about my H&R OE Sport Springs. I really like the modest drop of 1" in front and .75" in the rear.

Here are a couple pics of my latest mods:

I cut one coil from the rears months ago. No negative effects, and it levelled the car out perfectly, about .75" down in the rear. Very quck and easy procedure with a dremel, then primer and Rustoleum on the cut ends. My wife can't even see the difference, but I think it's one of the best mods I ever made, and replacement springs are cheap on ebay if you change your mind. No regrets here...

It's amazing how large that small distance can look.
As soon as I put in my rear springs, I thought I had done something wrong because the back looked a lot lower than what I expected. But when I took new measurements, it was only 1-1/16" drop.

It is the Roushcharger, but I used the entire cooling system (radiator/pump/brackets/pre-formed hoses) for the intercooler (minus the GT500 intercooler) from the GT500. My motivation was a clean OE type install without drilling any holes in my car. It turned out really well, IMO. I'm very pleased with all aspects of the kit.

Yea thats sounds right. The back springs are a little higher to begin with.

The HR do sound interesting though. I could do upto 1".

Now i know why 20" rims look so good. Lowering with eibach would be the way to go in this case.

However i'd like to keep my Fanblades. And i think the eibach springs just make it look too low. i saw some pics here someplace and the tire actually goes a little up into th fender.
I' like it about 1/4" - 1/2" or so, just below the fender. It just flows nicely.

Do you have any pics of your setup?

not bad...but the back could use a little more lowering. 1" drop all around is probably good. Or what Stangnut said, 1" rear and 0.75" front.

Another thing to consider is the loaded stance - with a full tank of gas it sits just about right. It was close to 'E' in those pics, BTW. The ride is incredible for a lowered car. Kudos to H&R.
