Looking for a new rear spoiler

I have had enough of my Cervini's rear spoiler. It warps in the heat and pulls the tape off everytime I have it fixed. I have thought about gluing it to the body yet I fear that.

So I am looking at the Roush rear spoiler.
My issue is there is a huge difference in pricing. I see on various sites that it can cost as low as $250 and up to $800. All I see are different serial numbers for the spoiler. The pictures all look like the same spoiler design.

Is there a difference between each of these or just that one might have been made in 2006, 07,08,09,10???

If there is a difference what might it be?

Also I have Cervini design striping on my car, 2 wide stripes flanked by a thin strip on the outer edge.
Looking at the spoiler there is a gap in the edge. Might someone tell me what the dimention is for that space? I fear my striping might be too wide to fit in that space.

Thanks

Roush offers many parts prepainted, that's most likely the price difference you're seeing (unpainted vs pre-painted) as well as the differing part #'s (for the multiple colors they produce) on average you can find the unpainted version for about $250-ish. Most painted colors run around $500

I can't measure my car for you right now, but that cutout is pretty darn wide. Maybe this photo will be helpful:

Thanks for the quick reply.
I just measured my stripes and they are 23" wide including all 4 stripes.

Anyone have a measurement on the gap?

Hey BTW what size are your tires there Torch_Vert ?

I finally got a chance to measure mine. The entire cutout area is 24.5" wide at the rear of the spoiler. If you don't want to count the curved areas at the left and right of the cutout, you have about 21.5" to play with.

My 23" wide measurement will not fit then. That is an issue.

Included are the views of the warping of the spoiler.

Screams, I am glad I read this post, though feel bad for you too. I was thinking about getting that spoiler, I want the ductail, and Cervini's covers the holes from my OEM spiler, but the warping , yet that stinks. Altough it is very hard for me to see in the pictures. I guess I see it in the gap between the tunk piece and the corner piece right?
What material is it made from? Fiberglass or polypropelyne? If it's warping from the suns heat I guess the plastic polypropelyne right?

polypropelyne yes..

Yes warping in 2 spots. The edge at the bottom part of trunk, both sides and the passenger side where it adhears to the lid.

This is actually the best it has been. I have had it removed and redone 7 times in 3 years.
1st attempt was a disaster.
Went from NY to Atlanta 2 weeks after full on kit, paint stripes and all.
Bad weather and the front fascia got pitted and chipped so bad I could not believe it. Hit the heat there and 2 days later it first started to warp. All over. Edges, middle , around the tail light, even 1 end cap warped.

Came back and had the body shop fix the front and redo the spoiler. month later same warp, again and again over and over at various areas because of the heat issues. The guy got so mad. I'm guessing once it warps it will warp forever. Called Cervini's and they said they do not do the work but send the cars and their kits to a local bodyshop. I never got to them to have it done over and never had the part replaced. Stubborn I guess and I always drive it.

As it stands now, part is glued, part is taped and part is pure luck it is done warping in spots. But the edges still warp off the body and yank the tape.

Now I like the Roush but that gap is too narrow so that spoiler is out. I did see a real nice spoiler a couple years ago on a Mustang but never saw that style for sale. I am sure it is but heck it might have even been the Roush version.

There are knock offs so be careful what you buy.
Each side piece is held on by 3 or 4 bolts (cant remember)
and the main one is held on by 6 bolts....all that plus 3M tape.
It aint going nowhere.

The Mrs car. 10-3/4" stripes with a 1" gap in the middle.

So With having my version of the Cervini kit on my car... side scoops are different and side window are different, I am stuck with the rear spoiler that is driving me nuts.

Should I suck it up and redo it again?
Replace with the same, incurring the cost of paint and re-striping?
Replace with some other version?? Which??
The kit makes the car boxy and kinda NASCAR looking. The rear spoiler balances the large front.

Lastly I need to get new rims. I have 17"s on it now. Do I stay with 17s or go 18? 19? 20? The Cervini kit would have come with 20s but I did not want to spend the extra 4k for those just then, I was hoping to get the Ford GT rims yet Ford did not supply them then and they are now 1k each as is.

Well let me first say I think your car looks awsome, I have always loved that body kit, but could never afford it. And your yellow with black stipe combos is hot. As for the spoiler, I would loose the Cervini and go with the Rousch spoiler like Barricade has. It is deffinitely a better made product and from what he says, the way it bolts and tapes on, you should never have another problem. And I think it would look fine with your kit and your stripes. I dont think it would look bad if the stripes are a little wider than the gap.

As for the wheel, I am partial to 18x9's Chrome, which is what I just got for my car.

I've had my Cervini's ducktail on for over 5 years now and as far as I know my isn't warped , I'll have to check now just to make sure. It sounds like maybe you got bad one ...

I went with CDC's spoiler. Yes you need the holes filled, but I think the cost of that is outweighed by the final look.

I had heard that the earlier versions of the Roush spoiler does not use bolts for the end pieces. If you buy a new one, you should not have that problem as they all should bolt now. This is just an FYI if you buy a used one..

Go for the Roush spoiler, you will NOT be disappointed. Mine is rock solid!!

Ron..

Talking about warping...

I was at the Mustangs & Mustangs show looking around and I saw a black Mustang with a Rousch spoiler / Wing, and I looked closely at it, and noticed where the wing ahears to the trunk along the top, I could see a visible gap. I could see the double sided tap trying to hold on, but the wing had about a half inch gap at the middle between the trunk and the top of the wing.

I'm telling you this because apparently the heat plays havoc with many spoiler and wings not just yours. It must be more common than I thought!!

I don't picture that happening with a real Roush spoiler. They're very solid and unlikely to distort like that even without any tape. There are several companies cranking out cheap knockoffs of the Roush design...

Well said. Buyer beware as there are inexpensive knockoffs that will warp and cause grief. I've never heard of a true Roush doing that..
