Look what I did this weekend...
Hi Andy. That grill looks great
. If you keep it stainless, and have the lamps behind the grill, my choice for an emblem would be the old Mustang with the red/white/blue bar behind it. Then I would mount it off to the side, like the new Shelby. Ths would look really good IMO. Great job on the upgrade.
I dont think you could go wrong either way, that is a very nice looking grill.

Black powder coat. The stainless looks good but is a bit busy and is also an eye magnet. People will look right at the grill instead of the car as a whole. I think the black grill would integrate in better and have a nice menacing look to it. Plus, the chrome pony will pop nicely.
I think it is really nice - you are very good working with metals. If you can, get one of the guys out here that do photo-chops to take your picture and make all sorts of different options for you. They are excellent at doing that, and it would let you visualize the results before you go further.
I say paint the grill black... or actually powdercoat it if ya can. Then, put a running pony tribar emblem on it off to the driver's side. And of course, make a matching one for the rear fascia grille, and then you might really have something going there.
Agree with Acadian. My only concern with the black grill is that it might simply disappear against the black of the rest of the car. It really does look like quality work. The fit looks excellent, very nice job!
I would go witih the black grill and chrome pony. You need something to break up the front grill as the spaces are smaller than normal and it looks like a giant wasteland without something there to break it up. Than again it has a "clean" look. I would definitly go black but then see how it look at that stage. You could even go a pattern of black with a small "rounded" nose(like the old cobras). Just a combo of both. Anyway, very nice work.
You’re the craftsmanship of the grill is beautiful. Please, do not hide it under a paint job. Use a black pony on the grill. This will be much more unique than the black grill everyone else gets from the factory.
I vote for Black powder coat! The shine from that expanded metal in the Arizona sun would be a bit too much for my tastes.
Now if you could make another with honeycomb material instead of the expanded metal I'd drive over right now and buy it! I figure my biggest challenge would be to figure out how to mount a stars and stripes Pony.

Honeycomb material (or hexagons) was what I had originally intended on doing, but decided to go with expanded metal instead. I would have had to to go get the materials instead of using all scrap material if I did it that way too. I am planning on putting the foglights in, I just have not yet decided where they are going. I was thinking maybe hidden behind the grill, where the stock lights are, or the ever famous center mounted. Center mounted was my first inclination, but they will stick out far into the bumper, just like Galpin's. It doesn't look bad, just not that clean. If I were to get a thinner light, it would work better, but I could make the stock ones work. You guys tell me. If I am going to keep the grill stainless, put the pony/tribar emblem somehwere on the grill, where should the foglights go? Let me know, and thanks.
