Let's see those painted/polished valve covers!!

Just like the title says show off your valve covers. Please state if you did it yourself (What brand of Paint did you use?),bought FRRP covers, or had them done professionally.

Just read your instructions and looking at the pics... what color did you use. I really like the way it looks.

Looks great odiaz and excellent instructions. I kind of like the retro chrome look. Maybe will do the covers one day.

Thanks, I was going for something retro so I used gold. It was the only gold color available in engine paint at the local autozone. I used one can of metal ethching primer, two cans of the gold paint and one can of clear coat.

The only other advise I can add is to do yourself a favor and do this outside in a well ventilated area.

I painted mine in the house during the winter and although I opened the windows for ventilation, the dust from the sanding was all over the place and kept re-settlingl on the covers while tey were drying; I had to do a lot of sanding.

The other piece of advise is to make sure you sand the covers with a good rough grit sand paper before you start. You want to make sure the finish is rough. I made the mistake of trying to polish my covers first and they were very smooth. Unfortunately the pinat did not adhere very well and it kept chippping after it dried and I was trying to put them back on. I had to re-do them.

Here's mine. Sorry the shot of the cover is not closer, but they've been powdercoated if you can't tell.

Looks great. Do you have any pics in direct sunlight?? Just want to see how much the black valve covers stand out on a black car.
