Leather or Cloth
Leather or Cloth
I might be trading in my V6 for a GT..right now i have Cloth but i want to know if you all think leather is a better choice. I'm just worried about the wrinkling and craking that is know to happen to leather seats... is it severe on the GT?
Leather is definitely worth it, but if I had to do it over, I would have ordered the cloth interior and then purchased Katzkin leather seats. They are awesome. They even have a map pocket behind the seat and you get your choice of colors and color combinations.

Lots of threads on this debate. (search) It's all about personal preference.
I got the cloth because I don't like the way the leather wrinkles no matter how well you take care of it and I don't like sliding around in my seat. The cloth holds you in place MUCH better than leather.
IMO, the ONLY advantage leather has over cloth is resale value. If you sell the car within a couple of years (before the leather gets too bad) it will not only bring a better price, but also probably sell faster.

I like leather, 'cause I wanted a diff. color choice........
like the stick/auto debate...all about personal preference.
my 2 cents- if you plan on any long summer trips, cloth will likely be cooler/a bit more comfortable- but leather will always look better when new...My Mark VII had a nice red leather interior, loved it at first(fall season), then hated it in the winter, hated it more in the hot sun, really hate it now that the cars starting to show its age. mustang leather is much softer than the older stuff, but like in my mark, the leather seemed to hold up better than the vinyl- the seat sides are vinyl, and it starts cracking, looks junky...sun on leather rear seatback has destroyed it completely- but I think mustang leather is only actually leather on front seating surfaces, so rear might not have this problem.
best seats Ive ever had were the old 'comfortweave' vinyl in my 69 fastback- they need redone now, but sheesh, theyre almost 40 years old...the woven vinyl is very breatheable, and not prone to cracking like other vinyl seats often did- and they look cool too

Well i'm going to end up waiting for my lease to be up before i get the GT...in 2009/2010 the new model will be out and i will be kicking myself if it looks nicer than the one they have out now ( i doubt it though)
So i'll play it safe and wait... but i am leaning more towards cloth...thank you for all your help guys!

In Alabama, Cloth is the way to go. I hate peeling my butt off leather seats. Having a black interior is bad enough- its like an oven.
So both my cars have cloth interior.
