Introducing Another Gt500 Clone...sort Of

Introducing my car to the forums.

Just completed first stage of my project. Thanks for KC of Clevenger Ford for shipping all the parts I need in completing this front conversion.

So far, here are the upgrades;

- GT500 Complete front fascia kit from Clevenger Ford (KC's the man!)

-GT500 18" wheels (replica) from American Muscle with 245/50/R18 Bridgestone Tires

-Lemans complete racing stripes from Baltimore

-GT500 complete emblems from KC

-GT rear wing

-JBA Muffler

-KNN Race filters

AGAIN, Thank you so much KC for your help!! This guy is great, he even takes the effort of contacting shipper and ensuring it gets to your place!

Sweeeeeeet! Love that grabber orange

That grabber orange is sick and so is your ride, very nice, good start on your project. looks great so far, I'll go ahead and forewarn you that there will be people giving you a hard time for having a fake car as they put it. to each his own, yours is yours and it looks great, some people just have to b**ch about something, I call it clone!!!

Yup, thanks for your comments man. It's a clone alright and I am starting to save some $$$ to improve HP and suspension. It's only a V6 standard (or manual) 5 speed tranny. Im thinking of a turbo but a supercharger would be the best way to go as it is easy to install and maintain.

Not sooo near future plans would definitely be a high output supercharger.

By the way, your ride looks awesome. Stripes are cool!

Looks awesome! There's nothing wrong with cloning. If you like the look then go for it! You get the benefit of a look you love without the ridiculous expense.

Don't say only a V6. It is first and foremost a Mustang! made to be personalized. You have beautiful cars.

Welcome to the family. It seems like you are going for the complete clone look with the badges and striping. IMO get the hood and rear wing ASAP before people start their bashing. Some will already bash just for the front end with GT emblems as we have been bashed. My 2 little boys want the snake badges on the car, but I'm torn. I might just do it to keep them happy, and all the haters can go to **LL. Nice color.

Looks great!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is nothing wrong with making a clone....so long as you don't pass it off for something that it's not.

It's a great look for the Grabber Orange.

Before you decide to get the GT500 hood, I've seen them side by side with the stock hood, and with the GT500 hood, and the stock hood creates a more aggressive look IMO.

Thats probably the closest you can get to cloning a Shelby, exterior wise.

I had to wait a bit to reply after seeing my second one of these in a day. Again, I think that looks hot, the wheels, colours etc are great. BUT WHY O WHY must you guys who have done this mod (GT or V6) put the GT500 on the rocker? WHY WHY>????

Nice job though.

Future mods

Thanks for the advice man. I'm saving for a supercharger and a rear fascia upgrade (including ducktail). I'm thinking of 9-12 psi vortech supercharger kit for the 4.0 v6 engine with a customized intercooler.

Not a problem...Personally, if I had a V6, I'd throw a Powerhouse Turbo on it! No questions asked!

It's a great kit, and it makes even better power!

In case you didn't know, your V6 has better internals than my GT!

You are going to run the stripes down the bumper right?

First off let me say that I am NOT one of those purists that is offended by a clone.

(Here comes the "but")

But dude! A V6! The problem is that a V6 will always sound like a V6 which is to say kind of obnoxious IMHO. Not all V6's mind you but most Ford V6s just sound horrible. People will expect that you are able to backup the GT500 badging with similar performance.

In the end do what makes you happy but this may have crossed a line I would not have.

(Here comes another "but")

But it does look good! And I actually like the stock hood versus the GT500 hood better. I actually like the GT Appearance PKG hood best but wish it was functional.

Best of luck

Looks really nice...... but I wouldn't call it a clone. By the strictest definition, a clone means ALL parts are the same as the original... it just wasn't "born" a GT500. So your car, like mine, doesn't even qualify as a clone!. I'd call it a "Mustang with Shelby parts"..... or maybe even a tribute like I call mine.

Just a forewarning... Be prepared to receive comments from strangers, such as:

You're the first Shelby I've seen in person!
Nice car! How much did you pay for it?
500 horsepower must feel awesome!

You'll have to use your own judgment to determine how you answer!
