Seibon hoods arent 8lbs thats for sure, I think they are just a lot of fiberglass wrapped in some CF. More of a look thing like VIS

Both Vis and Seibon are manufactured in china really cheap rather that Bash, which manufactures them here in the US

how much do u think a real CF hood (not one just wrapped in CF for looks) would shave off in lbs? Does anyone know of one?

Our aluminum hoods are very light so going to CF is not going to save you much in terms of weight. The stock aluminum hood are about 12-16 Lbs and from what I've read, the CF are about 8-10Lbs you'll be saving about 4-6 lbs. This is one of the reason's why I'm not fond of aftermarket hoods. To me it doesn't make sense to spend 600-800 to buy something that weighs much more then our hoods and then needs to be painted. Spending $1000 to save 6 lbs soen't make much sense either. There are a lot of other performance parts that I could buy for $1K.

well i am still aiming at the foose hood without shaker cut-out.

however thats also an aluminum hood, so i think buying that wont be as bad weight wise. i also have a feeling the hood weights a little more than 16lbs. thats a large piece of aluminum to weigh that little

I still think its a sin to replace or cut up and drill into the perfect stock aluminum hood(other then installing a shaker).

I'd be interested if it had a Whipple attached to the underside!
