Intercooler cover

So I have an Aggressive Chin Spoiler and I want to find a cover that will prevent anything bad from happening to my Intercooler.

Anything on the market for this?

Probably the only thing would be to get a billet grill insert for the lower opening. Or you can get these.

Hmm...don't think these would work, since part of installing the Aggressive Chin Spoiler requires removing that whole section.

What type of front end do you have? Stock, Roush, etc?

For the Roush front end I saw a nice kit offered by Stage 3 Motorsports. They have others check it out.

I have the stock fascia, but I added the CDC Aggressive Chin Spoiler which requires cutting out the lower valance section. It looks like this now:

I'm installing my aggressive spoiler tomorrow and I was looking at some metal mesh sheets at Menards the other day. I was thinking the same thing as you. I plan on mounting some small foglights in the corner of the opening and may build a frame for a grille. The sheets at the hardware store were around $20.

I bought the mesh aluminum last weekend, plan on installing it on my next set of days off., Have not yet decided if I will polish and clear coat it, or paint it black. Install will be simple (I hope) as I plan on cutting and forming the metal around the opening, from the underside of the car. I will use windshild adhesive to glue the mesh around the opening, similar to placing a plastic lid on an open can. I plan on using black body rivets as well to make sure it is mounted permanently. If you have another thought on installing this, please share.

I personally would try to make it removable since you may need to replace it should it get damaged. I personally won't know how I am going to tackle mine until I get the spoiler mounted.

not sure riveting it would be the best way to go. like deric said, what about if it gets damaged? you would have to drill out the rivets. plus you would also have the rivets showing (depending on where you drilled). idk.

the mesh will really hold its shape once it is formed. then maybe you could just try something like duct tape. cut some tabs into the mesh along the edges so that the tape can really grab on to it and the bumper. sounds ghetto, but it works. duct tape is versatile stuff . then, if you ever need to repair or replace the grille, just take the tape off. simple. besides, no one will be able to see the tape job.

did that before on a previous car and it worked great.

How did this go for you? I really want to get an Intercooler Cover for mine. I want to paint it black, and mount it so I can remove it if I ever need to.

I would like to use duct tape like someone mentioned and possible use wire-tires if I could find a way.

Insert Installed

Finally got some time to install the grill insert. Just used some mesh that I picked up at local parts store. Sprayed it with clearcoat, installed using windshield adhesive. Took about 30mins, with a little bit of cutting and shaping. Even quicker if I had access to a lift.

That turned out very nice ... Before I got my Shelby CS6 front fascia , which has a lower grille , I had the Agent47 lower grille insert. I got some gutter screen from Home Depot and made some grilles to cover the openings in it to protect my inter-cooler heat exchanger. The stuff you got looks like it's probably a better choice ...

I actually looked into using the gutte screen, but pieces sold at local Home Depot and Lowes were too short in length. Came across the mesh this past Spring, when picking up some interior LED's for my foot wells. Perfect length and width.
