well I went to the body shop today to see how my car was doing. They had another 05 stang in there, which I have seen before. They installed the Xenon hoodscoop, however, it has fallen off 3 times now. It is only held on by 3M tape, which, so are my side louvers, ground effects and rear valance. Both myself and the bodyshop owner are worried that mine might fall off as well. They are following street scenes install instructions to the T. Anyone else install aftermarket body stuff and have issues with the tape not adhering properly?

I have the BBR LNR kit, the side scoops, window scoops and rear wing is put on with an high grade epoxy, we then molded everything in. even with out molding the scoops in the epoxy holds and no problems yet! also the front apron is bolted on useing the factory locations, side exhost covers are held in place with factory locations and by useing push clips. so far no trouble at all! I believe I would put your stuff on useing a high grade epoxy, it takes a special caulk style gun to put it on, and it's not cheep, But it's well worth the extra money in the end. Good luck on your project.

good to know. I've never heard of using the epoxy before. Since I never plan on removing the parts this might be the way for me to go.

John - maybe I can help out - I was nervous about my Street Scene Gen 1 louvers (which I still need to switch OUT to my newly painted Gen 2s!) when I put them on - the first two days I kept looking back to make sure they were still there!!

But lemme say this - I was always doubtful of the whole 3M doublesided tape thing - I installed mine myself in my garage - used ALL the tape. and used the adhesive promotor on the louvers before I applied the tape - and I can't say enough how IMPRESSED I am how solid these things are on my car! I want to switch out to the Gen 2s I have now but I am hesitant because of how solid the first ones are on my car!!

Regular rain, washing the car at a pressure wash place with a high pressure hose...... I am truly impressed how solid these things are. If the guys working on your car doing the body kit know what they are doing, I would have NO worries bro.

DANG I can;t wait to see your car.......

I too have the gen 1 SS side window louvers and they are on there solid. I have washed many times, raced at the track and had the odd blast on the highway up to about 110 MPH with no problems. If you follow directions, you shouldn't have a problem.

I would even take pictures showing the steps you took to install so that in the event of a problem, you could go back to the manufacturer with evidence showing you used the proper procedure to get a new part free.

THanks for the input. The only difference I see there is they attach to the glass and not to a painted surface. I know Street Scene says to scuff the paint before applying the adhesive promoter and the 3M tape. I'd just hate to see something fall off while driving around. That would really stink.

Adrenalin, as you know I have both upper and lower side scoops and I haven't had any problems with them falling off. I noticed though on the corners they seem to be separating a bit but not bad I will fix it if it gets worse.

I cleaned the crap out the car with rubbing alcohol and more rubbing alcohol and then applied adhesive promotor (spelling?)

My Steeda front splitter is on with only the 3m tape for about 4 months now. No problems at all solid as a rock. Have had it over 100 several times no problems.

I don't have any aftermarket bodyparts on my car. I was going to go with a ducktail (originally spoiler delete), chin splitter and some other things. The body shop I was going to have paint and install the parts would not do it. They have been in business since 1971 and I have known them personally since 1974. They advised that I not add any of the aftermarket body stuff because of paint not sticking due to the chemicals that are used to release the parts from the molds. They also said the fit and finish of them makes it more trouble than it is worth. They actually won't even take any jobs on painting or adding body parts or kits. So I decided to add the spoiler back on and not add the parts. I will admit most of the stuff I have seen I like but, didn't think the possible headaches were worth it. So my mod $$ is going under the hood mostly.
