I'm just lost on a rim decision..
I'm looking to pick up a set of rims soon and I keep running into problems. I'm gonna go with a 18" set, prob 18x9 up front and 18x10 out back. The rims i really like the sheby cs66's dont fit big calliper brakes! I know that eventually I want to upgrade my brakes and I just dont want to drop $1200 on rims only for them not to work with different brakes down the road. I absolutly dont want 20" rims they look ghetto imo. Anyone have any suggestions?
Have you checked out a set of new cragars? I dunno how much they are, but they look like a set of scaled up old-school cragars. I think they are avail. from 18"-22", so 18" should be no problem. They are MUCH different than the torq-thrust wheels everyone seems to be running lately (not that there's anything wrong with that) and you can tell folks you have cragars on your mustang. and here's a vendor:

I'd shop around to price the things- but they look good!

Bigger brakes are nice for sure but doesn't any company make a disc brake kit the same size as stock but offer a better caliper(6 piston) type and rotors? That way you don't have to put 20-22" wheels on for clearance.
My advice is this. If you plan on going to a Big Brake kit down the road Figure out which one you want know then see what that brake kit requires as far as wheel fitment. Otherwise you may be in trouble come time to buy the big brake kit.
You can get a lot of 18” wheels that fit the 14” Brembos on the GT500. Steeda, Roush, Saleen, BBS, Shelby, ASA, OZ okay some are 19” wheels. Brembo or most other “big brake” kits need 18” or bigger wheels. One trick, if you will eventually get the Brembos on the GT500 is to select a GT500 as your car (TireRack for example) when looking for wheels. If you want Bear, Wilwood, SSBC, AP or StopTech then figure out what brake kit you want and get the brake profile to make sure the wheels you want fit. No one makes a 4 or 6-piston kit that fits stock wheels. Why bother. Another option is paint your stock calipers, put a set of Hawk HPS pads and call it a day. I’ve been looking for 6 months now and haven’t found a wheel under $1000 each that I like that will fit the 4 piston Brembos. Oh well…one day.
Why not get the Shelby CS69? They fit GT500 with factory Brembo brakes and BAER Performance brake packages.

If you want the most bang for your buck get American Muscle's GT4! They come in 18X9 and they feature enhanced interior clearance for big brake caliper and rotor kits that require larger aftermarket rims.
