An idea for aftermarket vendors. Replacement lower grille with foglights
An idea for aftermarket vendors. Replacement lower grille with foglights
Agent 47 currently offers a replacement mustang GT lower grille that has brake ducts holes.

How about a replacement lower grille for the Mustang GT that has fog lights? I.e. replace those current stock honey comb insert areas with a replacement grille that has fog lights built in.
I think there would be a substantial market for this, and it would probably spur additional sales of aftermarket upper grills that delete the factory fog lights (like the CDC and Cervini billet grilles, the Shelby GT overlay, and the expected bullitt honey grille) http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showpo...1&postcount=32
Probably alot of owners shy away from these grilles because they don't want to lose the fog light functionality.
I haven't patented it so feel free to steal my idea and make it a reality.

Something like this. Not very creative but you get the idea.
This would be a lot cheaper than buying a replacement fascia with built in fogs like the Roush or Steeda ones, or buying the GT/CS fascia and the aftermarket fog light inserts offered by Shelby.
Plus you don't have the added expense of having to paint the new fascia.

God yes! I have been trying to figure out a way to monkey some lights down there on my own... I would LOVE to have an actual lower grille instead! Especially since I have the Shelby GT grille and no longer have any fog lamps...
I would want exactly this type of thing for my new '08. However, I would suggest that the fogs be more fitting of the lower facia, a la the 95-98 Mustang GTs in those holes.
Better yet... I would somehow get the little turn signals done up so that the interior portions of them were foglamps... but that's just me.
The grille? ABSOLUTELY WANT IT SO BADLY IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY.
Overall, I love that look... and I want it.
Someone make the grille for sure... and the fogs would be awesome.

Even though I just ordered my center fogs grille, I'd replace it anytime with a black billet one if a lower grille with fogs were available. And yes, make them round, otherwise they don't go with the rest of the car's styling.
I suspect that with a little fitting the Fog light kit from a 2003-2004
Mazda6 could be made to work using just the harness (relay) and the rear fog light bracket/mount.
I had installed this kit on my old 2003 6 and it appears it's the right size. A little modification to the bracket, cutting a hole in the lower grill and it might work.
I've seen them on clearence for $100

I just did a quick search and found a few on this site including these 2 that are 2.9" tall

Here's some more with 3.25" diameter

I took measurements a while back of the lower grille to look for lights and found them... The honeycomb part of the lower grille is approx. 3" tall by 8" wide... So the lamps would have to be 3" or smaller, so those 2.9" would work...
Well, if no aftermarket vendors step up, maybe one of us can come up with a do-it-yourself solution and post it in a thread on here like taco bill does.
E.g.
Step 1. Take a hole saw, cut a 3" diameter hole in the center of each side of your lower grille.
Step 2. Mount the XXX model foglight using the XXX mounting braket to secure the fog light in place.
Step 3. Using a XXX tool, splice your old fog light wires and connect to XXX extensions
Step 4. Attach fog light connectors to extensions.
Warning: Don't use the instructions above on your car. They are just an example and I really don't know what I'm talking about
Assuming no vendors chime in, after we get some more votes/positive posts, I'll email some vendors. 2 that come to mind are Agent 47 and Silver Horse racing. I'm sure there are others.
CDC and Cervini also might have a vested interest since they sale the fogless upper grilles.

Slightly off topic. Do they sell a grill which has the foglights factory style without the pony in the middle? I think without the pony the front end would less cluttered. Anyone?

As soon as a friend recoops from a fall off a tractor, he has a CNC machine and we were going to work on a lower grill for the GT/CS. both with and with out fog lights. I bought a set of PIAA's I want to set in, they are about 2" round.
Guess we can always start work on a set for the GT also.
