I think I found my new wheels

Found these on CrossRoadz Direct. 18x9 Anthracite Bullitt's. Now I've never liked how "thin" the stock Bullitt's looked on the 05's, which is why I ordered the upgraded rims, but every once in a while I see a picture and think "Man, why didn't I get the Bullitt's?" These are 18x9, and look REALLY deep compared to the stock ones. Below are pictures of a stock Bullitt wheel and the 18x9. Are they really that different or do my eyes deceive me?

Site says:
"SIZE AND SPECIFICATIONS: 18x9 with a 36mm Offset. The lug pattern is 5x4.5 (114.3mm)."
And:
"These wheels are specifically designed with the correct offset to fit the new 2005 + Mustangs. "
Also, if I remember correctly, the black FR500 wheels are 36mm offset too. I understand they aren't the EXACT offset that the factory wheels have, but it sure seems like alot of wheel companies are making 36mm offset's and stating they are for the 05 Mustangs. I'm getting mad now. :bang:
How far off will they be? I don't think I understand the concept of offset, does this mean they will be farther out or farther in than stock? A few people have installed 1" spacers to make the wheels stick farther out, and it looks pretty good.
Standard offset is 45mm correct?

Factory offset is 45mm. I think you will be fine at 36mm. It all depends on what look you are going for. I wanted mine to have a wider stance without having to spend a fortune on huge rims and tires. I also wanted to fill the wheel wells, the stockers look too far inset for my taste. If you tape a weighted string to the top of the fender and let it hang down the center-line of the wheel, you can measure to the sidewall of the tire. At its highest point, mine measured just over 1&1/16" to the outside verticle edge of the fender lip. I installed my new rims that have a 30mm offset, changed to a 50 aspect ratio tire as well. Now that same measurement is just about 1/16" or a little over 1" farther out than stock. Basically the same as adding 1" spacers! The tires look like they are dead even with the fender lip. With the 36mm offset you are looking at, and depending on the sidewall profile of the tire you choose, you should wind up somewhere between 1/4" and 1/2" inside of your fender lip. It should fill out nicely.
Now I just need to add some 1" lowering springs to eliminate the gap above the tires.
Check out some of the pics of these in the link to my gallery in my sig.

..those are made for the '05 , and because its 18x9 there is alittle deeper lip on them. True the factory offset is 45mm, but thats for an 8" rim, these are 9" hence the 36mm offset compensating for the wider rim..

IMO, +36mm isn't enough offset BECAUSE it's a 9" wide rim. If a 9" wide wheel has a +45mm offset there is plenty of room on the inside for the extra 1/2". That way it only sticks out 1/2" from the original wheels position.
However, if, like many others, you like the old look of having the tires stick out from under the car, +36mm or even last year's +24mm offset is the way to go.
I have the new 18x9 FR500 replicas with the +36mm offset. As you can see the tire sits just inside the edge of the TOP of the fender well. Problem is, the fender slopes so much the tire sticks out and a lot of the tread is showing. This gives the appearance the tires don't fit the car. Starts to look like the 80's roller skate cars. I'm hoping lowering the rear fixes this problem. (and on a side note, the front looks fine)

Your 18x9's@36mm look almost the same as my 17x8's@30mm. I agree, it's all in what you are looking for. I was looking to fill mine out to the edge like my old '69 stang with N50-15's on the back of it, without the tire going outside the well. I too plan to drop the rear, at least, to try and settle the look a little by getting rid of the gap above the tire.
Those black FR's do look good on your white car by the way

Thanks, Jeff.
It looks like the width of your tire really brings it out. In the pics, yours appear to be out more than mine, but doing the numbers, my wheel by itself should be out more than yours.
Love the Mach 1's BTW.
