The idea was good to begin with, and now that its centered it's MUCH better!

I like it. Especially since it is a very subtle mod.

LOL. It did take a little bit for the sandpaper to touch the paint. My hand hovered for a little as I thought..."really...Are you sure..."

Thanks for the compliments. I was really looking for something a little different and since I liked the look/design of the older cap, I figure that would be a nice retro touch.

things have been crazy at home lately, got a few minutes of quiet and hopped on the forums-
Man Ive been wanting to put 69 caps on ours since day one- after seeing the pics, definitely want to go for it now...I had thought about putting the 69 cap on a SHR medallion, but now after seeing the pics, kinda like the look of the smaller cap...hmm.

might try photochopping pics with the 69 cap on the stock medallion to see how it looks with the ring around it(and preserve the keyhole). Or maybe, just maybe scale up the 69 cap and make a couple big enough to cover the heyhole? I wouldnt be afraid to lose the keyhole on mine, but the wife would freak if I did it to hers...

its been a weird few weeks- she had a heart attack 3 weeks ago/bypass surgery(only 35 yrs old) doc said heart was damaged by radiation 8 yrs ago she had for lymphoma...our baby is 7 months old, teething, kept me up the past 3 weeks, on top of that school just started for the 3 older kids- plus my buddies 8 yr old daughter we got temporary custody of a couple months ago, spent the last week and a half of 'spare time' moving his apartment/cars into storage till he gets back after clearing up a big legal mess...luckily my mom flew in for a while to help with the baby as Paula wont be able to even think about picking him up for quite a while...3 kids in soccer, work about falling apart, it just goes on and on...anyway things coulda been much worse, very thankful they arent, but it will sure be nice if things settle down though and we get a few evenings to get away/work on the cars, or something... still got a shaker hood, new fender/bumper to paint/install, among many other backburner jobs...

sorry for rambling waaaay off topic again- anyway, the 69 gascap looks sweet

At first I thought it really didn't matter that it wasn't centered , but after seeing these pics it really does look better. Nice job ...

I took some before, during and after pictures. Let me know if you need some for photoshoping alignment purposes.

I was in a parking lot recently and some guy noticed the cap right away. Pretty cool to get noticed like that.

I'm actually still here!

I had a gloss black panel, but did replace it with a matte black panel. It was just a vinyl sheet. I forgot where I bought it from, but I think any sign shop can make it for you. I just bought a roll of it and it was long/wide enough to fit the panel. Then I cut it to fit.
