Hello Everyone...
As you probably remember my front bumper was damaged last weekend when I was backing out of my driveway. Well yesterday afternoon I had the damage repaired and the mirrors painted.

One of my neighbors works in shop on show cars doing body and paint work, and does side jobs at his house.
He started around 1:30 and finished a little after 5:00.

The painted mirrors make the car look alot better.

out of all the things that people talk about doing to the car, the first thing that pops out at me are the unpainted mirrors...the car is so gorgeous and the unfinished mirrors stick out like a sore thumb...what's the procudure? jackg 90seville 97k

Total cost $225 (mirrors and bumper). Not sure of having to sand them as I wasn't there all the time, but I do remember him using a special soap and chemicals designed to making paint adhere to the plastic.

I could have saved $50 by having another body shop do the work, but they wouldn't stand behind their work, while my neighbor would.

I agree that by painting the mirrors...even just the top part that I had done makes a big difference in how the car looks.

As for the procedure...based on what my neighbor told me you need a special soap and some other chemical to prepare the surface for paint. I'm not sure what the chemicals are that he used, or if sanding was required...but I would assume that some sanding would be needed to smooth the area where the paint is going to be applied.

Painted the wifes. I did not sand because I wanted the emboss to be the same. Cleaned and used adhesion promoter, which is the same as a clear primer. Satin-Silver then Clear. I can see and of course feel the factory texture.

Very nice.....looks great! With a (my) black car, I felt painting the mirrors was prolly a waste of time, but I think I've changed my mind.

Looks good I also ordered Black so the hurry to paint the mirrors to match isnt really a priority. (Ill prob have it done sometime though)

I like it a lot. It's a little too modern for my retro taste personally, as far as my own car. But it looks great on yours.

I have been thinking about doing the same thing. I was just worried about the texture on the mirror, and how it would look? Is yours smooth or still have the rough feel to it like the stock mirrors? Thanks for the pics

PS: Are those the "Chrome" bullits or the polished aluminum? What size? Thanks

Rene you still retain the feel of the stock mirrors. On mine they used a flex agent to prevent chipping and help the paint stick.
