How long to paint hood?
yeah...it should be done. if not...they were too busy to take you in at the time they did....or they are lazy and slow.....or both....make a phone call with stern words.
i speak from experience, i sent in my hood because it was rusting under the paint, my dealer said i had to go to their collision center because the owner of the dealership and 2 others wanted his paint and body shops in one location. So i dirve over there with a new hood scoop i got from KC and my hood, well they had it prepped and ready within a day plus the scoop. Well their paintbooths went down for some reason and i ended up waiting a week and 2 days. if it was not for the paint booths it would have only taken them 2 days and a few hours, 2 weeks is way to long to paint a hood

first time my stripes went on took about 2 1/2 weeks, now for the collision repair, new hood and stripes....6 months...
Ok there is a lot longer story to it.
Just painting the hood, 2 to 4 days. Solid color stripes add a few more days. Specialty stripes add even another 2 to 4 days. Reason is, is your car the only one they are working on? If it is, I would wonder how good the body shop is if they have no customers. Second, depending on how many coats of paint, it has to be preped and sanded between coats and let it have enough time for each coat to dry compleatly.
With the pearl stripes on my car, it is a three coat process and then two to three coats of clear. Again dry time, sanding and preping between each coat, then buffing it all out at the end. That all does not happen in a day or two for a good job.

two weeks is way to long !!!! unless they had preperation problems, sounds like they are putting other cars ahead of you. trust me I know from experience on putting someone ahead of you!!!! It has happened to me. never pay for it in advance, then they really get it done to get payed. but once you pay ,they take there time.

With the Cervinis hoods they have to be either baked in the paint booth for about 6 to 8 hours at 140, or sit in the sun for 5 days to get the form oils out. Thats in the instructions. I am waiting for the Cervinis 68 hood on mine.
