Just curious why after market companies aren't making flush mounted retro looking side vents.

What is mean is to take off the factory side windows and install something in the cavity that fills it in.

I think this would look more intergrated than putting something over the glass.

Thoughts?

Sounds good if you dont mind wet back seats and poor A/C

I do think they look cool and I am all about functionality, anything less is for Ricers.

I am actually going to start trying to design something... all you gotta do is put a solid peice of plastic between the vents... Like a clear acylic. Then its water tight, but replaces the glass. OR some kind of vent that you can manually open or close.

If someone mirrors the design of those 65 side vents and puts them into production I just know my wallet will get lighter.

Yes my '69 Mach had a manual open/close pull/push lever on the under dash fender vents. Jessica, this along with your ICAP idea.. you really should open up your own shop!

According to e-mail correspondence with a guy named Terry at Fang Performance (maker of shaker hood scoop for '05), they are currently working on just such louvers. All you gotta do is wait......

Shoot, one of my Mustang magazines had an ad with an 05 displaying louvers just like you mention. They weren't offered for sale by this particular vendor, but appeared to be a shot of a show car. I'll see if I can get further info. The ad had a black GT, with twin red racing stripes...

I am sure you should see something by next summer. Several companies have stated they are working on something. The trick is making them functional and making them so they don't leak.

Beautiful shot of the Blue Beauty, ricer .

Can't wait to get my MRTs on, but I know I probably will be jealous anyway if recessed/functional louvres come out - if they look good.

If a good looking set of functionals are ever produced I would get them and sell off my MRT's, but it would have to be a very very good looking set.

hmmmm....I wonder where you got that idea from Rabbitt????? LOL. ANyway as I told you a while back I have been researching that as well as the other ideas I have and with this one it looks like it will be easier than first expected, well relatively that is, the ducktail will be way easier, but I just took apart a 65s vent to get a better idea of how that one worked, I definately think this is the better way to go instead of having the window open like I had told you about, especially if one would like to market it to others.

The last time I talked to Fang Performance, they said they are working on an insert that replaces the side glass and is similar to the side vents from the 60's.

FINALLY! I've been female ******* for months because I haven't seen anyone tool a replacement. I like the look of the stick ons - but for me that is just too cheap...not trying to knock anyone here because some do look great. But I didn't buy the car to glue plastic to it.

REALLY, REALLY, looking forward to seeing some pics and these in production.

col are they doing louvers or a scoop?

I originally was trying to make a scoop work but it will be easier to do with louvers and will make more sense when looking at it on the inside of the car, still trying to do my original idea though its just expensive.

I talked to Fang this afternoon, and it will probably be a little while until anything is available.

The plan is for a louver that replaces the glass... If anyone can do it, Fang can.

LMAO Rick.... If I remember correctly, you told me about wanting to do it with a scoop, and my response was, "I was thinking the same thing, with louvers." I do remember we had a long conversation about how it would work, and make it functional.

Hey, you are wanting to open a shop, DO IT! I bet you would have a poo load of customers from here. Especially once you can get the side exhaust you want figured out and functioning.

what the heck do you think Ive been working on woman.....it takes some time and goes real slow especially when you dont have a ton of freed up cash flow, but I have a new investor now so we'll see, and supposedly Cervinis has side exhaust that is functional.
