Thumbs up

Can anyone tell me about how much it costs to have a hood scoop painted and put on the hood by a body shop?

That's gonna vary from shop to shop. Best thing to do is call around and get estimates from local shops.

Are you talking about a bolt-on scoop like the Roush or a mold-on?

My Roush scoop costed me $125 to have painted with black stripes over mineral grey. The scoop costed me $130. Installation was free, done by yours truely.

With bolt on, did you cut a hole in the hood for it to be functional?

Thanks!

No, not yet. I just wanted the scoop on ASAP and am in the process of figuring out how I will make it funtional. It will involve cutting a hole in the hood under the scoop, building an air box around the air filter with some sheet metal and some pipe tube insulation to seal it when the hood shuts, and then some flat plastic or metal tubing running along the hood from the scoop to the air box. But I will definitely make it functional... just a matter of time.

Ordered one thru dealer $130 + 275 to paint & install. It's in and getting painted will be installed shortly.

Sounds good. Are you going to make it functional? I made mine functional and can feel a difference in acceleration.

Just got back from the Ford dealer. $330.00 for Roush hood scoop including painting and installation. Seemed like a fair price to me.

Do you have a link on here on how you made it functional?

Thanks
