you know, I am really liking the way that is turning out!

I like projects like that, take an off-the shelf piece and make a work of art out of it!

good job!

I second that .. it is fun seeing your progress. You ever consider mounting a web-cam so we can peek in on the project ? I look forward to the next update.

Usually hoods with openings like these are meant for helping hot air leave the engine compartment, not pull it in. the front end of the opening is usually behind the radiator so air can come in through the radiator, then leave out through the hood to help keep temps down in the engine compartment.

Looks great though, and I can't wait to see it finished.

If you direct the air to the air filter box like this, you will get cold air and
the hood will be functional.

thanx again guys!!!!!

Now i have to learn how to weld aluminium lol
Instead of welding, will fibreglass do the job?

Looking great!! Like jayguy said, those are more of the air-extractor type scoop, like on the Saleens and Cobras, I believe. If you had NACA ducts like the '69-'70 Shelby's had, then the engine could feed off them.

3-M makes a good structural adhesive that is used to bond body panels together insted of welding, you might want to stay away from fiberglass and use some of the high tech/high strength materials instead. the 3-M product is called Automix 'Panel bonding adhesive" I cant remember the # but you can get it at most auto paint supply jobbers, I use it all the time. You will have to do some welding on that job it looks like though, you might want to farm that out to a certified welder that has a velvet touch!

good luck!

OK guys here is the update.
Just took the hood to get welded. Tooo scared to do myself.
Going to the shop on Sat. morning to help with bondo finish and paint.
This guy is amazing. To do the welding, prep and paint the hood silver, also to paint all the stripes when the car gets here, He wants $1000.
Wow. I seen the guys work and i must say, very impressive.
He also wants to keep the car for 2 weeks. He is going to design his own skirt package. Promises not to scratch my baby. If i like it, he will paint and install as a
gift.
So now i have to bug my salesman to get me the vert ASAP ;-)

I will take pics on Saturday.

And yes, I am going to use the hood for it's original purpose. To take heat out of engine compartment. I mention to him to have a functional air dam in the front skirt. More practical.
Thanx again guys.

3D carbon, eat your heart out. But thanx for the idea

Just workin'!

We are getting 100% IUP and 33% Convertibles this month.
Tigger199's order is "Selected" so it will be serialized tonight.

Apparantly things are going well at the plant, so you will probably be cruisin' before April 1.

What did your paint guy say about shade matching with clearcoat over on the silver?

Can't wait to see the hood project on your baby!

Keep the pictures coming.
